How often do you change your car?

i bought my new in 2004 and done about 46000 miles,my dad's always on at me to get a new one!How often do you change your car?
Every year although had this one a while and keeping for a while longer as spent that much on it.How often do you change your car?
every 2days
When they do not run anymore and then some.
when it starts costing money, about 3 years old.
I get a new car right before I hit 50,000 Miles. It will keep your resale value up. Also, if you wanted to buy from the same dealer, you will get more money because it would turn into a Certified Pre-Owned car.
every 3 years
My mom and dad changes their car in about 2 years and buy new ones, or used ones.
Yes I agree with your dad. I found after 3 years they start to become unrealiable. So I change mine every 3 years.
CCA's are cold cranking amps. Each battery is assigned a certain spec. I am sure with yours at 303, it's getting to the point of where it will most likely need replacement in less than 6 months. When you get a new battery make sure you get the same rating battery if the car is stock. As far as your oil, turn the car off and check the stick for proper level.
every 3 years
I change daily cars every two years, but if its one of my sports cars for race or show I usally will never sell them
every 2 to 3 days............
I change my car at least once a year, I get bored of them after 6 months
At the end of the third year at M.O.T. time is when cars usually need some money spent on them, thats when I pick up my next new car.
Wow.

You know, cars aren't disposable. Today cars are made to last a very long time. You can get over 100 k out of even a cheaper model without major repairs, and if it's a more expensive car you can see 150,00 miles or more.

I generally try to drive my cars into the ground. I got a Saab 900 off lease, it had maybe 30,000 miles on it, and finally traded it 6 years later with 160,000 on the clock. It would have needed several grand in repairs. I got another car just off lease, and will drive it to the 150,000 mark or longer.

Unless you really want something else (and can afford it), or your current car is really a lemon (and 46,000 is nothing for a 2004), I'd suggest keeping it for at least another 50,000 miles.
Every three years
i usually buy at around 60k and sell before they get to 100k, but I drive high quality cars that can handle the miles.

if you drive something like a rover then you would be lucky to get to 60k...lol

Would you consider knowing how to change a car tire a safety issue?

Could be if someone does it improperly and the wheel comes off that would defiantly be a safety issue.Would you consider knowing how to change a car tire a safety issue?
I sure would . It may happen at a time or place where u would not want to wait for auto service.Would you consider knowing how to change a car tire a safety issue?
Yeah it could be. If you can change your own tire you don't need to sit there on the side of the road stranded waiting for someone else to change it.
absolutely! tires are the ONLY component supporting the several thousand pound machine mooving at speeds in upwards of 70 miles an hour on a hard surface. one tiny nail size whole can cause this heavy machine to roll over on the road! at higher speeds roll means several times as well. loose lugs can cause steering control problems leading to loss of control and crashing. add setting at night on dark street waiting for assistance in a bad area. damage to a car from blow out and driving with a flat can be expensive too
I don't know if it's a safety issue but EVERYONE that drives should know how to change a tire including putting the lug nuts on right and tightening them in the proper sequence
Definitely! you NEED to know how to change a tire, you never know where you'll get a flat... it may be somewhere you don't want to be for very long waiting on someone to come help you out.
Yes. In this age of cell phones, it's less important...

BUT, what if you're out of cell range, are broke (no $$$), and/or no one to call who can reach you in a reasonable amount of time?

Everyone who drives a car should know how to do some very basic things:

How to frieakin' drive! (sorry, couldn't resist)

How to fill their fuel tank properly (to prevent spills or other accidents)

How to check their fluids (Oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, etc...)

How to add fluids (correct types, and how to avoid spills, over-fills, burns and other accidents)

How to check tire pressure (and how to choose a tire pressure), check tire condition (normal wear and irregular wear), and select proper replacement tires

How to change a tire safely (and when to drive on it or not)

How to jump start a car (hooking directly from battery to battery is still not a good idea...)

How to follow a maintenance schedule

_
No because there'll always be some idiot like me who will come and change it for you (as long as you're not driving a luxury car). Unless it's a drop down spare...they can just rot with their goofy drop down spares!

Men shouldn't have a problem doing it unless they're just...well...not men. I just don't think most women can actually change a tire because of the weight involved...and the torque on the lugs. So they can't really be faulted for not knowing or wanting to know how to change a tire. That's not sexist that's the truth! Tire with wheel weighs at least 40 pounds probably closer to 50 with 17-18'; alloy wheels; can a 120 pound woman actually lift that without exploding? Let me check youtube.

Now if you ask about changing tires on say a lifted truck with huge tires...well then...I don't think that's physically possible without a lift.

Is it possible to change my car's engine?

I drive a Hyundai Getz and I was wondering what upgrade options are possible in terms of a new engine, it's the 2007 model in Australia, 1.6 litre, and I was looking at putting a 2 to 2.5 litre engine in, obviously I'd probably need a scoop on the bonnet, and secondly how much would it cost?

ThanksIs it possible to change my car's engine?
it would have to be a larger engine from another getz, i think the standard engines only go up to 1.8 or 2 litre. to fit a larger engine from a different car would require alot of modification and would cost alot, also if your planing on putting a 2 litre from another getz in it will need the cooling and possibly the gearbox from the donor car.

When should I change my engine's oil in my car and I got (vauxhall astra breeze 1.7 CDTi diesel)?

Well, how do I know when I need to change my car's engine oil? the car I got vauxhall astra breeze 1.7 CDTi diesel.

Looking forward to hear your answers. When should I change my engine's oil in my car and I got (vauxhall astra breeze 1.7 CDTi diesel)?
You will need to look in the service manual for the correct maintenance interval. If you put fully synthetic oil in you might get longer between changes, but the oil is more expensive! When should I change my engine's oil in my car and I got (vauxhall astra breeze 1.7 CDTi diesel)?
Every year on your annual service :)
at least once a year.
how many miles has it done since the last oil change is the quetion really ?? dont go more than 10000 miles without changing the oil
when it has it's survice check X
If it is a brand new car first oil change is due at 5k

then every 10k unless you do high mileage its every 6k.
Ideally, a Diesel should have its oil changed every 6 months or 6000 miles, whichever comes first, but don't leave it longer than 1 year / 12,000 miles.
i agree 5 thousand miles

I own a 2001 Volkswagen GLX 2.8 Liter Engine and have 108,000 miles on it. The Valvoline place tells me to come back in 3,000 miles but I know I can go longer. How many miles could I realisticly go before I get another oil change. ThanksI just got oil change for car. I put Max Life Full Synthetic in it. How far can I go on it?
...i usually go about 4000 miles in my '98 isuzu amigo before changing mine... check it often after the 3000 miles...as long as it doesn't look horribly filthy you can wait a bit before the next change!!!

i just changed mine last week with the same oil as you!!!

...did you get the do it yourself oil change deal at advance auto parts??? lolI just got oil change for car. I put Max Life Full Synthetic in it. How far can I go on it?
Split the difference and go 4000 miles per oil change
    Until the bottle is empty
Try 6,000 miles or 4 months, which ever comes first.
It shold tell you the diffrent service intervals and the diffrent weights of oil for your car i recomend any mobil products. they are the best. look in your owensers manual. it will tell you there.
    Up to 30,000 miles.

I myself believe 10,000 is more than enough.
The safest bet is to go to a parts store and check a bottle of the oil itself and follow reccomended guides by the oil company. But you can go longer as long as the oil appears to be clean.

I am moving to Florida and was wondering how to change my car insurance?

Go online %26amp; find the best price and then you can get it switched before you move. You may want to try getting a quote online. I am paying less than 陆 of what I was before I did.

    Take care,

CaseyI am moving to Florida and was wondering how to change my car insurance?
Just call your agent and he can help you. Or if you are with a .com based company call them and see if they do biz there. You may have to change companies if the one you are with doesn't do biz in FL.I am moving to Florida and was wondering how to change my car insurance?
The best answer I can give you is to see if your present insurance company is doing business down in Flordia. Then have your present agent check for you for an agency in the area where you are going to live.

If you do not like the rates you are offered, shop around. Don't cancel your car insurance until you first have acquired another policy and you have paid for it. AND do not let your car insurance LAPSE, for that's a ';no no';. Once a car insurance policy is lapse for non-payment and you begin searching for car insurance anew, you will almost automatically be placed in a pool (special car insurance) where the costs are much greater.
If I remember right, Florida is a no fault state, so your policy will change even if you keep the same company.

When you move and get your address, just contact an agent authorized to write policies in Florida.
Move down there and once you are there call your agent and see if your company offers insurance in FL. If you have geico or progessive they most certianly do. Now would be a good time to shop around for new insurance.

Your current policy will cover you while you are in FL, or anywhere else in the US for that matter.

Within 30 days of moving to FL you should have your drivers license changed to an FL license and then insure the car and re-register it.

Good luck and enjoy the warm weather (if you are moving from somewhere cold)

How to change My car's Clutch?

    Hi,

I have a Nissan Maxima 2000 stick shift! It's time to change it's clutch nad replace the new one. I want to replace it myself instead of having someone else to fix it. Does anyone know how to change it with a source???

ThanksHow to change My car's Clutch?
You'll need to remove the transmission first. This is a lot of work, especially on a front wheel drive car like your Maxima.

You'll need to remove the axles, the shift linkage, trans mounts, any wiring connectors, slave cylinder/clutch cable (your car will have one or the other,) and the bolts that hold the trans and engine together. You need something to support the trans like a floor jack and a piece of wood so that once it is disconnected from everything and unbolted from the engine you can maneuver the trans back away from the pressure plate and flywheel.

Keep in mind that you'll also need to support the engine before the trans is removed, when I do this at home I use a nice thick block of wood under the oil pan.

Once you get the trans out, you will need to hold the engine still so that the crankshaft can't rotate while you unbolt the pressure plate and flywheel. Either have a friend counter hold the engine with a socket and breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt or rig something up to hold the flywheel still.

Once the engine is held still, unbolt the pressure plate, the clutch disc will then fall right out. Next unbolt the flywheel. You will want to either replace or resurface the flywheel at this point, don't bolt your new clutch assembly up to a flywheel that's full of heat checks, you will regret it once it starts to chatter.

Next replace the throw out bearing (it will be attached to the release fork on the transmission input shaft) and lightly grease the splines of the input shaft with moly grease. If your car has a pilot bearing in the end of the crankshaft, use a puller tool to remove it and install a new one. Bolt up the new or resurfaced flywheel (you'll have to look up the torque specs in a manual). Now you will need to use the clutch disc alignment tool (usually is included with the clutch kit) to center the clutch disc against the flywheel so that you can put the pressure plate on. Align the pressure plate with the dowel pins on the flywheel and torque the bolts to specs. Remove the alignment tool and you're ready to put the trans back in.

This is the hardest part. You need the input shaft of the trans to slide smoothly back into the splines of the clutch disk and into the pilot bearing (if your car has one.) Lift the trans into position with the jack and leave the jack where it is so you can rest the trans on it if you get tired. You will know when the trans slides in. Don't force it in by using the bolts to pull the trans towards the engine, you can damage the trans and you'll have to do this all over again!

Once you get the trans in place, start putting everything back together.

Make sure the pedal feels good and you can shift into every gear, including reverse. If all is well, take it for a test drive. Remember that a new clutch must be broken in for at least 500 miles. This means keep the revs down, keep downshifting to a minimum and try to avoid heavy traffic if at all possible.

If you still want to do it yourself after reading this, good for you! Definitely pick up a manual as it will help you out if you forget how something goes together or you get stuck somewhere. How to change My car's Clutch?
kasra this isnt a job for a newbe. it requires special tools many of them (lifts, alignment tools, etc.) one mistake can cost a bunch to the wallet. also the mechanic needs to closely examine for damaged and worn parts. I dont often advise people not to attempt a job but something like this i must.
My suggestion is to go to a parts store and buy a repair manual and study it.And if you decide to do it yourself you better have someone else there that knows mechanics to help out doing this job.Or the other thing is just take it to a shop and have them do it it would be up to you either way.I know how to do them but not knowing where you live it would be impossible to help you out from where I am at.hgm20002000@yahoo.com
best bet is to buy a haynes manual, they are usually about 25 dollars but are very useful and will show you step by step instructions

I'd imagine you'd get charged for 1 hour of labor+cost of the windshield. I'd call around to different shops in your area to get a better estimate. Make sure you know the make/model/year of your car before calling because the shop will need that information.

take jumpercables or a emergeny jumpstarter with battery to the cars battery recepters after you loosen the recepeter bolts lift and replace.

cheap and not all repair shops have equipment for ^How to change a car battery without having to reprogram the computer?
you don't have to reprogram it , it has it's own backup battery
most newer cars you don't have to worry about it, they will reset themselves in a mile or so of driving, could act funny for a little bit but will straighten itself out.
Your computer stores everything in its hard memory..... then the fault codes are stored in a tempory memory that can be erased by a code reader. So you can disconnect your battery and nothing will go bad with the computer.

More than it's worth. It could be thousands, it could be impossible. It depends on the car. I can't say I know for sure on a Skyline.
I have changed the engines in cars before, but never a Skyline 1993. It is a lot of work. I did it out of necessity, not for pleasure. I think 2000 dollars for the labour and old used engine together.

It would cost MUCH less! to sell your automatic car, and use the money to buy a similar one that is already a manual.

Why do you need to change your car's oil?

I passed the 3 month mark to change my car's oil by like a month and the 3 thousand mile mark by like 1,500 miles... :S

I haven't had the chance to change the oil but I'll do it soon, I was just wondering, why do you need to change it so much?

How does it affect your car?Why do you need to change your car's oil?
Here's an example why it should be changed.

    My dad works for Toyota, selling Toyota and Lexus wholesale parts. He got a call one day for a brand new engine for a 2004 Camry. He said, ';A new ENGINE? WHY??'; The person ordering the engine said, ';Because the owner didn't change the oil for about 20,000 miles.';

Also, what kind of car do you have? I've heard to change the oil every 3,000 miles, sometimes every 5,000 or even more. My car's, a 2007 Mazda3, manual says every 5,000 miles. I've seen some up to 7,500 miles.

Your car is probably not in any danger for being 1,500 over the 3,000 mile oil change but it's definitely something you want to either do yourself or have it done at a shop. You don't want your oil to turn into sludge, either.

I wish I knew who goes around here giving everyone's good answers and advice a thumbs down or two. Losers. Why do you need to change your car's oil?
oil breaks down and becomes contaminated/all the additives get burned off and if you wait too long you may have serious engine problems
One of the byproducts of the internal combustion process is acids which tend to build up in your oil. The acids tend to eat the working parts of the engine. The filter takes out dirt but not acids. The only way to get rid of them is to change the oil.
the oil is the lubricant for the engine and if you dont replace the oil your motor will lock up. and then you willl have to buy a new motor or a whole new car...
internal components inside the engine are constantly rubing against each other which causes wear, small particles enter the oil and these particles increase the rate of ware in the engine.......its like when your at the beach and you have sand on your feet, and when you go to put your shoes back on you can feel the sand rubbing against your skin, so you take your shoes off and wash your feet.

So changing your engine oil = washing your feet

    It makes perfect sence.........?????? lol
Your oil serves three purposes. 1: lubrication. Oil provides a barrier between the moving parts inside the engine, preventing wear. The molecules do have a tend icy to break down over time. 2: Cleaning: With a gas engine you will have what is known as blow by, past the engine rings. This blow by contains impurities, some of which is carbon, water, and acids. Given time there will be enough carbons in the oil that it will act like sandpaper to the engine components. The water will destroy the lubrication qualities, and the acids will eat the metal inside the engine. 3: Cooling. Some oil will splash on the cylinder walls, then the rings will scrape the oil off the cylinders. During this process the oil takes some of the heat from the combustion process and transfer it to the oil pan.

Granted there are synthetic oils that will last longer, the molecules will not break down, and provide better cooling, however the oil will still pick up impurities. This is why it is important to change your oil and oil filter. Just changing the filter will not remove all of the impurities.
Oil does three things for your engine. It cools, cleans and lubricates the areas between the moving parts. If you don't change it it will not be able to perform these functions at maximum efficiency. It will break down and the engine will suffer premature wear.
you need the oil of course, a new filter, a drain pan, wrench to take the drain plug out, a couple of old rags, and a oil filter wrench. oil wears out after a few thousands miles and it don,t lubricate as well as new oil and it keeps all the moving parts running smooth like bearings and timing chain just to name a couple.
    1. Oil undergoes thermal breakdown due to high operating temperature. When this occurs, the oil becomes less effective as a lubricant. And without a good lubricant (read: expensive), parts of the engine rub together and wear each other out.

    2. Oil also contains additives that have the ability to neutralize acids. Over time, these additives get used up and stop being effective.

    3. Finally, oil can absorb water, dust and combustion byproducts and also hold them in suspension. Eventually, the oil gets saturated with this stuff and can't absorb any more. Then that stuff remains in the engine and can cause corrosion.

Nick, if you gave a good answer we'd give you thumbs up. All you did was say that it was bad and give a few examples of what happens when you don't do it. The question, however, was WHY IS IT BAD!! Read it before answering and piping up! And yes, one of the thumbs down you now have is mine. How hard is it to change my car's headgasket?

1995 ford mustang v6 3.8lHow hard is it to change my car's headgasket?
Quite an indepth job, this is a lot harder then taking off the heads, ripping the old gaskets off and throwing the new ones on and putting it all back together. Pretty much the entire top half of the engine is going to be needing removal, and it will cost a lot more then just the head gasket. When the heads are off your are going to need a straight edge (about $150 from Snap-on and thats half assed one) to make sure the block is perfectly flat, the heads should be sent to a machine shop for it to be checked out for cracks and flatness. This job usually takes about a day or two at a garage, with about 8 hours labour (not sure on that vehicle however what the labour rate is). I would say if you have to ask, its out of your range. On a scale of 1-10 1 being easy and 10 being do not attempt, I would mark it as a 9. There are going to be specialty tools you will need too, and torques, and torque sequances, and special bolts (not included in any kit) that are ';torque to yield'; and can only be used once. I would be saying because of all the small costs that you will be unawair of, and the stress in your life that it WILL cause, taking it to a garage will be your best bet. Just because a technician can do it in 8 hours, or whatever the time is, doesn't mean you can. They have years of training. How hard is it to change my car's headgasket?
You mean head gaskets (plural), and yes, it is something you should not mess with.

Besides there is a recall on that!
First of all, your car has two headgaskets.

Second, it is no small job. Don't attempt it unless you have a moderate amount of repair knowledge and an extensive set of tools.

If you do decide to do it, and have all the tools, expect to spend about 4 hours minimum on it, assuming you know exactly what you're doing and have every tool needed. My first head gasket took me two weeks, however, due to lack of tools among other things.
It's a long, time consuming job, and requires you to pay attention to many little details to do it right...it really is best to have a shop do it, as they are geared up for it, and generally have the experience necessary.

IS IT TRUE THAT MY SOON-TO-BE EX HUSBAND CAN'T CHANGE OUR CAR INSURANCE POLICY UNTIL OUR DIVORCE IS FINAL??? I NEED HELP WITH THIS... IT SAYS THAT HE CANT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO IT IN THE SUMMONS THAT WAS GIVEN TO HIM BUT I WANT TO KNOW HOW LNG UNTIL HE CAN CHANGE IT BECAUSE HE IS TRYING TO CHANGE IT NOWChanging car insurance beneficiaries during a divorce?
I am confused by your question. Although I think what you are asking if changes can be made to your insurance policy by either your husband or yourself prior to your divorce. My advice is sit down with him and your insurance agent and discuss the changes that you guys would like made, hopefully , you have a good insurance agent and they can act as a sort of mediator so that you guys both get what you want. I am in the insurance business and this is what I would try to do to help our cutomers.Changing car insurance beneficiaries during a divorce?
Call the car insurance and ask them, inform them of what he's trying to do.
    Its a confusing question.

Is your ex canceling your insurance?

    Is it costing you money?

Is it leaving you without insurance?

If it doesn't affect you I doubt its very important unless the above questions are a ';yes';.

If they are a ';no';, I don't see what the issue is.

After your divorced you'll both have your own anyway.

Is it possible to change your car to (partially) run on water?

I have seen allot of sites claiming that (for a fee) they will tell you how it is done, though apparantley the information was orginally released for the public domain. Is this just another scam, or is it really possible? Is it possible to change your car to (partially) run on water?
One of them involves electrolysis of the water into the two gases, oxygen and hydrogen and then feeding it too the engine. Do they work? Yes and no, the energy required to break the water down comes from the engine. I'd do a lot of reading before I spent any money or time on any gadget.

Add on .. Car Lover, there are hundreds of those sites that will happily take you money, exactly the sites in the question. Did you read the link? There is a system Honda is playing around with, way out of reach of the average person, maybe in a few more years, until then keep your wallet closed. Is it possible to change your car to (partially) run on water?
See the video I've linked to below then visit the site mentioned in the video. As you'll see, these schemes are just a giant scam designed to make those who are prepared to lie about this stuff richer and fleece innocent folk who would like to believe them.

How can I change my car plate number in M'sia?

I’ve got a Pesekutuan plate; I want to change to starting with the Letter S. How do I go about it?

Do Malaysia allow red color number plate? with 3 alphabets %26amp; 2 digits?

Additional info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance. How can I change my car plate number in M'sia?
Normally, to change your car to a new number plate, you need to buy a unregistered car(usually new), register it with the new number, then transfer the new number to your old car....the new car is then registered with the old number (both new and old cars must be in the name of the same owner)......you can then sell the new car (with the old number) by transfer of name to a new owner.....

Special number plates are usually not allowed, but sometimes allowed for special occasions but with conditions and a high fee. Consult the JPJ....How can I change my car plate number in M'sia?
For a start, you need to go to Road Transport Department (JPJ) and consult them. They will explain to you what is legal and which is illegal.

You may also inquire through email of seek advice via the telephone (through your nearest JPJ office)

    http://portal.jpj.gov.my/v5/index.php/en…

But your 2nd question about the red colour, I think they won't allow you since the specification has specified that all plate number should be follow as desribed:

3 forms of vehicle registration number plate are allowed

    1. White letters and numerals fixed or embossed on a black frame.

    2. White letters and numerals fixed or embossed on a red frame for vehicles belonging to embassies, UN and the International Natural Rubber Association.

    3. Black letters and numerals fixed or embossed on a white frame for taxis or hired cars.

No other colours is allowed since it would be an offense to do so.

You can check the RTD portal for more info:

My car needs the motor to be replaced how will this change my car?

Will it drive better or will i not really see a change? I'm wondering because the reason its being repaired it because it overheated and they first thought it was the head gasket but they see I blew the valves also.... Not to sure what all this means. My car needs the motor to be replaced how will this change my car?
Overheating doesn't necessarily mean a bad head gasket. It could be low on coolant or have a thermostat issue. If you blew valve seals that means the valves in the head/ valve train aren't closing properly so air going in and out ( thats what the valves control ) is irratic and cause poor performance.

A good way to self check for a possible head gasket leak, is if the coolant is brown or if it looks like its contiminated with oil and vice versa if the oil looks like it has coolant in it.

If the motor is complete replaced, it should be like driving a new car, because the motor is fresh or with lower mileage. My car needs the motor to be replaced how will this change my car?
with a new engine it should drive and run close to new. now if ya go with a used engine hard to say but heck anything that runs will be better than your current engine
Well hopefully it will run like it used to. Sounds like the engine took quite a bit damage.
If the engine is installed by a professional that takes pride in their work you will not be able to find any sign of the engine being replaced. It will look and drive just as before.
Ideally if you get the same motor. Your car will drive just as well as it did before the other one overheated. I do not what kind of car you have or what the motor will be like, but that will play into the response of the new motor.

If it is a relatively new car I would try to find an engine from a car that has been totaled. If you get a brand new engine you are going to pay an arm and a leg.
sounds like the engine fluid levels werent checked regularly which made the engine overheat and now this happened the new engine will run great but check all the coolant levels weekly for a couple months to see wat changes and then ull no wat will need more at wat time

  • How to change your car horn?

i have and 03 altima and i was wondering how to change my car horn maybe to like a semi horn, ifs its possibleHow to change your car horn?
First you have to find it which happily is the easy part, have someone blow it for you until you find the location.

Now the hard part, a semi has an air compressor to which the horn is supplied air pressure along with the braking system so if you can imagine this a major system of a semi because who would honk a horn in a semi so long it would cause the brakes to lock up.

It is complicated, first you have to find or make an available drive pulley to which you will connect the drive belt for your air compressor, then you will have to mount a air tank that acts as (if you will) a reservoir for the the air to be supplied to the horn.

Now you will need to make a bracket system to mount the air compressor that will keep the compressor shiv in perfect alignment with the driving shiv under all driving conditions.

Then you have to find a way to mount the pressure lines that supply the horn with out interference to the other vehicle components that could chafe the lines causing an unsafe vehicle due to no horn for a warning device.

Hmm anything is possible but my ambition just run out.

Hope this helps. How to change your car horn?
Sure you can, those are called Air Horns, they operate on 12 volts just like your regular horn.

But the difference is, its comes with a small compressor, or a mini air tank with a compressor. You will need more room to mount it.
putting a real semi horn is really a pain to put in.... you have to have an aircompressor and an air tank then hook up an air valve to the horn.... just use an electric air horn... works good

How often do you have to recharge or change a car battery?

Batteries usually last 3 to 5 years, though some can go on a good while longer.

The alternator takes care of recharging in most circumstances, although if you have a long spell of combined short journeys, cold weather, parking with lights on etc, without the chance of a decent run, a charge can be useful.

What do I do if I want to change my car's cloth seats into leather seats?

do i have to buy the entire seat or just the outside. also, where would i go to do this? + how much would it cost? What do I do if I want to change my car's cloth seats into leather seats?
google a company called transcal they re upholster the seats can be expensive or if top of range car same kinde you have has leather try car breakers or ebay will prob be cheaperWhat do I do if I want to change my car's cloth seats into leather seats?
Go to an upholstery shop for the material and color choice and labor costs. Leather is expensive. A cheaper way to go might be to see if leather seats were available on your car and check the dealer for pricing on seat covers. Either way won't be cheap.
I'm not sure if there is a way to recover them with leather but you might be able to find a salvage and get leather seats from there. A lot of the salvage yards have websites now so you can get online and see if they have what you are looking for.
I just had a quote for 1400.00 for cloth for my car

if you want more power and shift higher in the rpm band you can get bigger gears for your rear end, or get some smaller profile tires and than in turn will act as if you changed the gears in the read axleHow can i change my car from low rpms to high rpms?
    press down the gas pedal
You might want to re ask this question explaining what you mean, because a S.A. answer would be to step on the gas pedal
I don't understand... Pressing the accelerator increases the car, only when it is running though..
yes, this is a rather odd question and i read it a few times over. you shift at 300rpms?? that makes no sense. like the last person said you can alter the gearing to get more speed. once that happens your speedometer will read incorrectly. its a fairly old car and won't go overly fast between gears so i mean you can put your foot down but the engine may complain.

How do I know when to change a car battery?

When it doesn't hold a charge for long. If you have trouble starting, then have it tested at shop, Autozone may do it free. Sometimes it's just the alternator not charging, but much rarer than bad battery. How do I know when to change a car battery?
when your car doesnt startHow do I know when to change a car battery?
Well, you could use a battery tester ... but why go to the expense ... put one wire on the positive terminal and one on the negative terminal, use at least 12 guage wire aprox 12 inches long each, and stick both wires to your tongue. If you feel a little buzz the battery needs replaced. If you don't feel a little buzz you hooked the wires up wrong, try again.

how much would it cost me to paint it a good 10 year paint job?How much would it cost to change my car color?
You have to worry about the interior too....... also the door jambs..............................Lots of questions........! If you paint it roughly the same color,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, It will be cheaper.......!How much would it cost to change my car color?
It depends what you want done. Just a single paint color would be the cheapest but every option gets more expensive, like metallic, etc..

Ask a local car place that can do it.

I was going to paint mine like a pearlescent blue-teal but I thought about it and I am only 17 and a fairly new driver. If I got into an accident it would be really expensive to fix in the future.

    Hope I helped!
any ware from 500 to 5000 ddepending in the type of paint you want some is more than others my sudgestion is get the same color as one of the other 96 rav 4 like an original color it will look the best and not out of the ordinary and just so you know i think the best color on that car is night hawk purl. hope it helps just sarry for the spelling issues lol
I dont exactly remember but awhile back i was looking into buying a 2001 honda and i LOVED the look of the car except for the paint job so i called around and the cheapest GOOD paint job that i found cost more then the car... lol... I think it was like $3000 or so... It is not cheap!!! Call around though... Maaco seems to be the cheapest... But remember... you get what you pay for!! Best of luck!
Go get a bunch of estimates from different auto body shops around your neck of the woods, %26amp; go for the most reasonable

estiment thar you can get.Its going to cost you a couple of hunderd or more to get a car painted.
starting price, you're looking at at least 2k.

you gotta shop around, find the best deal.

put it this way, a minor scratch typically costs about 500 to fix... so go from there. I'd say at least 2k for a whole paint job.
From two to three thousand dollars. Changes in guidlines for paints have made paint jobs a lot more expensive.
i am guessing around $500. If you are serious about this go into an auto shop or toyota dealer and get an estimate
Anywhere between 1000-2500 dollars if there is no body work needed.
    It should be under $1000
well, go to a body shop and find out.
like around 2-3000 dollars if it doesnt have any damage

How to change your car breaks, what if the disc is bad too?

My car is Daewoo Leganza 2000.How to change your car breaks, what if the disc is bad too?
When replacing brakes. The front rotors (disks) are held in place by the calipers. There are 2 bolts that hold the calipers to the mounting plate. Typically allen head (hex)

or torx (star) fasteners are used to secure the calipers.

The mounting plate is held on by two bolts. (17-19 mm)

1st jack the car up, place on stands, then chock the rear wheels. leave the steering wheel unlocked by placing the key

to the unlock position, but not in the on position.

Turn the wheels so the inboard rear is accessible to the side you will start on. Remove the wheels. remove the caliper bolts, lift straight up on the caliper, and the brake pads can be slid out of the mounting plate. Remove the mounting plate, and the rotor will slide off. if the rotor does not move. tap it gently with a rubber mallot.

Remove the master cylinder cap (where the brake fluid is filled)) Get a ';C'; clamp that screws shut by turning it (any auto parts store will have one) Put an old brake pad against the caliper piston (metal side against the piston)and compress the piston into the caliper until the metal part of the pad is flush with the caliper.

The rotors can be taken to an auto parts store (I recommend Napa) They will measure the thickness of your rotors, and will tell you if they need to be replaced. If not, they will resurface the rotors. When reinstalling. first the rotor, then the mounting plate. Slide the brake pads on, along with any anti rattle clips or springs, that were on the car. Then the the compressed caliper. (if the calipers dont fit back on, you will need to compress a little more) Same for both sides.

Put the master cylinder cap back on, and pump the brake pedal until it becomes firm, and hard. Check the brake fluid level, and ensure all fasteners are tight.

Replace the wheels, tighten all lugnuts, put the car back on its wheels. Test brakes in the driveway, and make certain they are stopping properly. Good luckHow to change your car breaks, what if the disc is bad too?
It should be bette rif you take it to a dealership in your area instead. remember your breaks change life and death.
I'm sorry your car is a Daewoo, the parts are hard to get. Change your brake pads and if the rotors are bad, they will have to be replaced also, don;t wait very long! Good luck finding parts and with the job!

How To change my car's Transmission?

I have a Nissan Maxima 2000 stick shift! I want to change the transmission and I want to replace it myself instead of having someone else to fix it. Does anyone know how to change it with a source???How To change my car's Transmission?
http://www.ehow.com/how_2305955_change-tHow To change my car's Transmission?
YOU ARE GONNA NEED A FEW POWER TOOLS A JACKSTAND AND PLENTY OF PATIENCE.
take out the axles and the driver's side strut to give you more room when you unbolt the trans and slide it out. install trans and parts in reverse order. you could get a Haynes or Chilton repair manual but you can do the job without one.
you will need a hydraulic jack, and tools. you can drop it the other way but it,s better if you drop the sub frame, place a jack under the transmission, unhook the linkage, all sensors, pull the axles, unbolt the bell housing and pull the transmission back and drop it.

How do you change a car's oil?

im 13 years old and wanna help my mom out by changin her car oil instead of her havin to pay for it to be changed, and she has a 1997 chevy cavalier so can someone please explain how i can change the car oil. thanksHow do you change a car's oil?
Drain the oil and put in a new filter. How do you change a car's oil?
wash the car for your mom or do something else nice for her, but don't try to change the oil. It's only $20 to have a shop do it. If you don't get it right, you could ruin the engine and end up costing her thousands of dollars in repairs. It's one of those things that if you have to ask how then you shouldn't be doing it.
Find the drain plug under the car make sure it is the oil drain plug and not the transmission drain plug. Get a oil pan and drain the oil into the pan. find the oil filter and take it off using a oil filter wrench. Fill the new oil filter with new oil and take your finger and put some oil around the seal of the filter and put the filter on. Put the oil drain plug back in and fill the engine with 4 quarts of oil and your done. Good luck
1.) Find a drive through oil change place.

2.) Remain in your car and have a coffee or read.

3.) Beware of getting sold on other things that may need attention but might be a good idea to take care of. (Not all these guys are crooks)

4.) Pay the bill and drive away with confidence and reduced anxiety.

5.) Consider using synthetics from www.lubedealer.com/hiebert because these motor oils will last longer and protect your car for up to six months or 7,500 miles or 25,000 miles or a year depending on which product you use.
That's awfully nice of you, but I don't recommend you doing it.

If something goes wrong, it will cost thousands of dollars to fix your goof-up.

Wash the dishes, vacuum the carpet, or clean the bathroom if you want to help.

    Or cook her dinner...?
first make sure the car is cool.. then lye under the front of the car and you will see a bolt in the bottom of a pan rite under the motor not the transmission... this bolt will be the lowest bolt in the pan get the rite wrench to fit this bolt but befor removing have a gallon pail or bucket or pan ready to catch the oil in... next remove the bolt and let the oil drain in the pan un till it stops dripping... then you have to find the oil filter witch is tword the bottom of the motor and looks like a can of pop maybe a little bigger... this is the hard part.. you have to remove this can and it will be greasy..it shouldnt be that tight though remember turn it to the left to remove ... right to tighten.. it will leak oil so catch it in the pan .....replace the pan bolt you took out earlier called the drainplug and tighten it tight!!!! take the new filter there should be a rubber ring on the thred side of the new can... dip the rubber gasket in the old oil befor you put the filter on tighten it hand tight plus a 1/4 turn .. no more !!!! then put 4 quarts of oil in and start the car when 4 have been put in.. shut the car off and check the oil... it will need between 1/4 and 3/4 of another quart of oil when the oil is full put the old oil in the empty quarts and take them to the auto parts store and they will recycle it for free good luck if you have questions call me at 402 307 0052
Everyone forgot to mention how to dispose of the oil properly, please, if you really are going to change the oil by yourself don't dump it down the drain. Bring it to a local garage and they'll take your used oil, but since you're going to have to go there might as well have them do it in the first place.

Should I change my car oil myself or take it in?

I took auto tech class in high school, so I know how to do this stuff. I have a 1995 Mitsubishi Galant S. How do I know what type of oil to get and oil filter. Do I use 5 quarts? Is it cheaper to do it yourself?Should I change my car oil myself or take it in?
You might save $10 dollars to do it yourself..

you also might ruin a $10 shirt ... lolShould I change my car oil myself or take it in?
I save $15 by doing it myself. My brother lives in MI and it cost $9-15 at quick oil change and he lets them do it. Add up the cost and see which one is cheaper. Also, you need to find an oil recycle center to dispose of the used oil. If you have to drive 100 round trip, it's not worth it.
didn't learn much in school did ya....

1 if you put in 5 qt the engine will die...its little...buy 5 and put in 3...run for 1 min check level...add as needed

    2 get 10 w 30 if you dont know..[owners manual or oil cap will tell you..but 10 w 30 always safe

3 filter go to auto prts store look it up..or as counter person..
How are you going to get under the car to reach the oil filter with the oil filter wrench? You can't go under a raised car without safety jack stands and wheel chocks in place (on a level surface).
You just have to crunch the numbers.

Oil and filter will run you about $15 and take you about half an hour. Do you have a cheap shop around that will do it for 20? If so, there's no way the time and trouble is worth $5. Around my town the cheapest I can find is about $28. Makes it worthwhile for me to do it myself, $13 in half an hour is decent savings.

Most cars take five quarts of oil but some are different, it's pretty easy to put 4 in and check the dipstick and add if necessary. What kind of oil? Should be right on the oil fill cap. If not, just ask the shop where you're buying the oil. Same goes for the filter, the place where you buy it will have a manual.

Here's the tougher part, getting under the car. Without at least having ramps, it's likely too crowded under there to do it yourself. Ramps will be another $30 or so but if you use them a lot, they pay for themselves quickly.

If you plan on doing more than just the occasional oil change a Hayne's manual is a good investment too. In fact, I think it's a good idea to have one for every car you own, even if you don't do repairs you can do a little diagnostic at home so the mechanic can't fool you as easily.
Anyone can change their own oil and its cheaper, go to autozone or any autoparts store and they have manuals in the back that tells you what oil filter you will need and what oil to use. They also have CSR's up front that can pull everyhing up on a computer and get it ready for you.
Do you enjoy working on your car? Is it fun?Have you done it before?

If the answer is yes,do it yourself. If it sounds like a hassle, have it done at the dealer, not quick lube. Here's why I've heard by more than 3 people, some times forgets to put the oil back in after draining, which locks up the engine.Granted they put another engine in it,they will put a used engine in. Dealer will put in a brand new one,so chances are, dealer will replace the oil. Also, using factory parts as often as possible will make the engine last much longer. I also recomend 1 qt of Lucus in that particular car.Mitsubishi's are bad about valve guide seals. It makes the car smoke alot! Lucus will prolong the problem.May make it last much longer! Go to dealer,on about $24.00 and they check out more of your car,an inspection(check dealer coupons!
If you use conventional oil, you save $15 doing it yourself.

If you use synthetic oil, you save $40-$100 doing it yourself.

I personally only run Royal Purple synthetic oil. Expensive, but works.
i go to wal mart and get the oil and filter for about fifteen dollars they have it a five quart jug and a book that tells you the correct filter number and brand
Firstly, the info pertaining to what weight of oil to use and how many quarts to use is contained in your owner's manual. Get it out of the glove box every once in a while. It's a good read. As for your filter, any auto parts store will be able to look it up for you-- just go in and tell them you need an oil filter for a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse. They'll ask you which engine your car had-- I'm assuming there was a four-cylinder and six-cylinder version. Once you tell them that, they can tell you which filter to buy.

Secondly, yes, it'll probably be cheaper. But even if it costs the same as taking it to a lube shop, I recommend doing it yourself as a good way to get to know your vehicle on a deeper level than most people ever will.

As an added benefit, when you do oil changes yourself, you won't get taken advantage of by unscrupulous lube places who often don't care about the quality of work they do. Did you know some of the quick-lube places actually recommend against lubricating the oil filter gasket now? That's a long-standing practice in automotive maintenance, but they want to do away with it as a cost-savings measure. For a piddly single cubic centimeter or so of oil on each filter's gasket. How do you feel about them making sacrifices in the quality of their work all in the name of profit, no matter the consequences to your car? Maybe they're not so terrible, but my point is, you never know until something goes wrong with your car as a result of their negligence. At that point, you wouldn't be able to prove anything was their responsibility-- they get off scot-free, and you get left with a big repair bill.

How do i change my car licenses plates from one state to another?

i have WV but i need AR thanks and how much money will it cost? How do i change my car licenses plates from one state to another?
I would contact the DMV in WV or Arkansas and they can tell you what you need to do and how much it will cost. Good luck though with contacting anything in Arkansas, because we are moving there ourselveses, and I cannot find anything online that would tell us. There ARE some phone numbers you can call to contact Arkansas, though. I finally called a local sheriff's office down there to get information on the nearest ';revenue office'; (I guess that is what they call the DMV in the county I am moving to).

Maybe contacting the WV office is your best bet. They can direct you from there. How do i change my car licenses plates from one state to another?

its an old Probe... dodge i think but im not sure. its my sisters and we need to change the belt cause its worn and needs to be changed. her car also stalls while she turns an we dont know what causes itHow would i change a timing belt in a car?
Pretty much if you need to ask, it may very easily be beyond your abilities.

With that said, here's my advice.

The Probe was built by Ford between 1988 to 1997. It was a collaboration between Ford and Mazda built on the Mazda GD platform. It shares many parts with the Mazda MX-6. It is also an old car so I understand why you would want to do it yourself instead of paying a mechanic several hundred dollars.

First, get the exact year, make, model, transmission, and engine for this car.

Go to the Auto Zone website. They have an excellent Do It Yourself section. You can have online access to many service manuals for free. You can not download the manuals. However you can print any sections you will need. You must register to access this section. Registration is free. I have never received any SPAM by registering.

You should study your downloaded pages closely before you proceed to see if you are getting in over your head.

    Some additional advice.

A little organization will go a long way.

Get some 1 quart and 1 gallon zip lock bags, generic will do. Get a roll of 2 inch masking tape. Get a sharpie. Every time you remove a part put it and any fasteners and any hardware in a zip lock bag and label it with your sharpie. If the part is too big for a zip lock bag, put only the loose parts in the bag.

Label every electrical connector, vacuum line, fluid line, etc, with masking tape and a sharpie

Most people have access to a digital camera. Before you start take several pictures from different angles of the engine. With each major component you remove take a new set of pictures. These pictures can be very helpful later on if you forget how a part goes back on.How would i change a timing belt in a car?
If you need to ask that question on Yahoo answers, then you are not qualified to do it. Take it to a shop. Trust me!

    Matallic colored changing car?

I was driving home from work today and saw a matallic purple car, as i drove up to it, the color changed to a matallic orang, matallic blue, matallic green and other matallic colors, I was wondering what is this paint job called and how much would it cost to do it.Matallic colored changing car?
Actually that car probably had a pearl put on the normal paint job which made it look like it was changing colours as you drove by. Metallic paint only means that there is metal flakes in the paint and it just makes it ';shimmer'; or ';sparkle'; in the sunlight. A pearl paint job can cost you $2000-$3000 depending on how much the colour on the car differs from the colour you want to change it too because then the doors and hood will have to be removed if it is an extreme colour change. If you want a mettalic paint job than it will only run you $1000-$1500.Matallic colored changing car?
    it is a polychromatic paint.

it is basically a three stage, the first is the colour coat, the second is the poly chromatic which is composed of tiny pieces of metallic maylar and the third is a clear coat.

the mylar is in suspionion in the paint. when it is applied, the mylar will settle out in, in hopefully a consistant pattern.

the colour change is due to the index of refraction differences in the metallic coating.

the paint is rather expensive because of the make-up and the fact that it has three coats.

other than that it shouldn't cost more than 2000-3000 depending on size and body work required.

google house of colour (color) for samples.
thats very expensive paint and it's called camelion paint, I really don't know how much to paint a whole car with it, you would have to contact an autobody shop.

How can i find out when i can change my car battery?

i have Honda civic 2000 LX. is there anyway i can find out when to change my battery? thanks. How can i find out when i can change my car battery?
Most shops have a battery tester, or charging system analysis, when the battery fails either test, it's time to replace it. Good thing you dont live here in Arizona, you have to replace batteries every two years because of the heat. How can i find out when i can change my car battery?
u can find out wen the car dont start or it could b ur alternator
look at the date on the battery when it was bought and put in it, if its over 5 years old its usually a good idea to replace them, most battery's have a purchase date on the top of them, good luck.

How can i change my car battery without losing my radio connection?

anti theft makes a code necessary to restart the radio. do not have, dealer cannot get without $60.How can i change my car battery without losing my radio connection?
if your lighter outlet has power regardless of key position, use a jump-start box to connect to it. if your lighter has no power with key out, you can hook the jump-start directly to the battery cables with clamps. NEVER DISCONNECT BATTERY WITH IGNITION SWITCHED ON!! most new cars also interpret battery disconnection as a theft attempt and will disable the ignition system, so if you don't know what you are doing, PLEASE take your car to someone that does. I can tell you horror stories about people that disconnected a battery without using an external power source and the price they paid to re-set the system. How can i change my car battery without losing my radio connection?
no problem-hope i helped and prevented a potentiallly costly mistake

    You can't
Tap into your power wire and connect to a side battery for the time you are changing out the car battery and then just disconnect it.
Iv'e seen a device that you plug into the lighter jack that has a transistor battery. I saw it a Wal Mart. It keeps the memory powered up.
depending on the make model year, etc of the car. Some cars require a 9 volt battery that connects into the cigarette lighter or acc outlet that saves your radios memory. It has been a while since I have actually seen this. You used to be able to buy such an item at your local auto parts store or off of the Mac, Snap on, Matco etc. tool truck. Otherwise just hook jumper wires to an accessory battery.
I had the same problem. I don't think there is anyway that you change your battery without losing the connection with the radio. I drive a Saturn. At my dealer they reset the Anti theft code for free. Sorry for your luck. Next time set the code to 1111.
Buy a jumper pack. They sell them almost everywhere now. No car should be without one. They sell smaller ones for a fair price, and they can really get you, or someone you are helping, out of a jam.

How much to change British car to Spanish plates please?

Car is 13 years old and we've been told that by law it should not cost any more than 250 euros. . . one place has quoted 900. . . anyone else with similar stories and is this another ';rip off'; because we're Brits!!!!How much to change British car to Spanish plates please?
    Hola

My dad had his 10 year old BMW 728i changed to Spanish plates 2 months ago and cost 鈧?310.

    Import tax on a 10 year old 7 series BMW - 鈧?80

    Re-registering - 鈧?50

    Suma / Road tax - 鈧?0

He also had to buy new Headlights because his couldn't be altered to point the correct way so it might be worth going to ur garage to see if ur's can be altered.

The MOT in Spain is called an ITV if they find something wrong with ur car u will need to get that fixed before they will put ur car on Spanish plates.

It is true that a lot of English drive round on their English plates but if u are stopped by the Guardia Civil they will give u 6 months to have the car changed over and if u don't they will issue u with a big fine.

My dad had his car changed at a local garage (a Welsh Company) called MVM it might be worth having a look at their website and contacting them for a quote - www.quesadalife.com/catrallife/

    they have a front advert.

    I honestly don't think 鈧?00 is a rip off.

I hope this helps. How much to change British car to Spanish plates please?
NigelS is right. I have heard of people being charged arond 500e. But why bother to change, sell the UK right hand drive and get yourself a Spanish car after all you are living in Spain and every carpark, motorway and electronic gateway will have the ticket entry on the left.

I never understand Brits who still have a UK car unless you regularly return to the UK and will use it there aswell. Apart from that it makes you stand out as being a foreigner and a target for rip off merchants and thieves if it's parked outside your house. I have lived in Spain 16 years and never lived in a Brit community or driven a UK plated car (at least after the first 6 months anyway) I have translated at alot of police stations for victims of crime here, but you don't have to take my advice of course. (By the way not all the rip off merchants you will meet are Spanish.....there are more Brits who take advantage of other Brits coming to Spain and rip them off. )People trust their own and sometimes that is a big mistake unfortunately. Good luck

By law, after you have registered on the electoral role at your local town hall you MUST change them within 90 days. Of course if you don't own property in Spain and are not on the electoral role you can do what you like.
don't bother, if you are planning to become a resident, by a spanish plated car. changing them from a UK reg sometimes can cost more than the car is worth.
i changed mine to spanish plates cost 530 euros but the hassle its not worth it and dont listen to all this cr##p about getting them an mot here all you get it a check to tell the owner that it would pass an mot. At the moment in malaga some 50 forien regestred cars are being conficated a week for not having legal documentaion for the counrty of registration to be honest your better buying a spanish car at least you will be sat on the right side of it when driving
Warning: Do not take the advice of StephenHarris! Not only is it illegal to drive a car registered in another country if you are have spanish residency (which you should be if you stay longer than 90 days), if you are unfortunate to be involved in an accident with someone who has not proper / adequate documentation (ie a REAL MoT), the insurance company will probably not pay out! Perhaps the wide boys who view the spanish law with such contempt should return to their motherland......

PS I changed my plates with an excellent german lady organising everything. Cost about 500鈧? With hindsight it would have been better to buy a car here but circumstances were difficult and it made sense for me to keep the english car that was and (fingers crossed) is still running well.
No its not a rip off because your Brits, I moved here from the UK ,8 years ago, And thought about bringing my car, Believe me its more economical to sell your car in the UK , and buy one here. with a 13 year old car it will cost more to re register it here than its value.250 euros is for the change of registration, but there are more hidden costs, you have to pay the Guardia Civil Traffic, for a cert, plus one to the local council, also the insurance will be much higher because it is RHD.
leave it as it is i drive a British car you can get inurance and MOTS here so why spend the money. the other way is to sell ot over here as there are plenty of people advertising and then buy a left hand drive.

the 3 month thing mentioned above is that you can only have your car outside of britain under the insurance policy that you brought the car over on.

as for residencia there is no legal need to do it now as you automatically get it now after 6 yrs, no need to apply, although you still can
Don't change the plates. Lots of people drive English cars here and now you can get them a mot here it's not a problem.

  • How much does it cost to change a car from manual transmission to auto matic transmisson?

I had a friend who did it to his Honda Civic, but he had it done in a shop 'cause he didn't want to screw anything up, it cost him just over $2500 a couple years ago, it'd likely be more now. I have to ask why you'd do this though? I drive an '08 manual transmission Chevy Cobalt SS and I love the race-car feel driving a stick gives you :) I specifically ordered the manual for this reason. How much does it cost to change a car from manual transmission to auto matic transmisson?
It depends on the car but none are cheap. You'll need a flex plate, transmission, torque converter, shifter, ECU and wiring harness and rear transmission mount. Depending on the car you may also need a new bell housing, crossmember and driveshaft. Of course the final gears are ratioed for a manual and may not be right for an auto. You'll also need the proper hookup and driven gear for the speedometer. Easiest route, which is still expensive, is to buy a junker of the same year and model that is an auto so you'll have all the parts and can see how everything hooks up.

Wondering if i can change my car from auto to manual?

its a 2004 dodge neon, i'm wondering how much it would cost and if anbody can recommend a shop in atlanta. yes i know it might be cheaper to trade in...but this is my car and i want to keep my car.Wondering if i can change my car from auto to manual?
It's possable to do. The previous owner of my truch changed it from manual to auto so i know it can be done. You may want to speak to a transmission tech and see if they can give you some pointersWondering if i can change my car from auto to manual?
    Fogettaboutit
You could, but you would be basically making a new car. Just try selling it and buying an automatic. Plenty of people out there love stick shifts.
Easiest way to do this is to buy a parts-car with the same motor but manual transmission and swap all your parts into it. Or you could just pull the transmission from the parts car and drop it in yours, but that would require a lot of fabrication.
You need a new Transmission, Pedal assembly, Clutch hydraulic system,

C.v. shafts, shifter assembly and linkages, chassis modifications to accept

the standard set-up, and other hidden things like different cruise control.etc.
All the above answers are correct, but they are leaving out the fact that your computer is set up for an automatic; you will have troubles to no end if you don't go through the entire wiring harnesses, computer components, and even the suspension. I know all of this isn't what you wanted to hear, but the modification you are looking at doing is rediculously labor and specific-knowledge intensive. Also, when a shop is looking for parts, they often look at the VIN number for the correct info, which will be wrong if you do all this. Really, if you like the car just leave it be. If you want a stickshift, and I don't blame you if you do because they are morew fun to drive, then find another car to make your own and you will be so happy you did.
sure you can if you have enough money and time. your looking at a lot of money. well let,s see. you will need another computer, transmission, flywheel, clutch, throwout bearing, pressure plate, shifting linkage, clutch pedal, a slave cylinder, different cv joints. so you looking at several hundreds of dollars.

How long does it take to change a car title to someone else's name?

I'm planning to go get my car from my aunt in another county and the same state but she changed the car title completely in her name and she told me i'm not getting it until it get out of her name. How long does it take, I really did have this planned outHow long does it take to change a car title to someone else's name?
Why did she put the car in her name? Did you file the forms with the DMV to put the car in your name, or did she do that?

Anyone know how to change a car a/c blower in a 97 honda civic?

If you have a link that would be great.Anyone know how to change a car a/c blower in a 97 honda civic?
if you're asking about the blower motor replacement its easy; the blower motor is behind the glove box on the passenger side of the vehicle. If you look up under the dash at the bottom of the black blower case you'll see the motor. Its only held in by three self-tapping cap screws. Take the three screws out and the motor will come down and out.

You may have to remove a plastic under dash panel to see the motor if there is one on your model. Its just a cover that should come off easily.

there are 2 cap screws that hold the glove box in at the bottom of the door. you may have to take the glove box out but its no big deal if you have to. Remove the two screws at the bottom of the glove box door on the frame and it should come out easily. there are 5 screws that hold the bracket for the glove box and the knee bolster that are visible when you take out the glove box but I don't think you need to take those items out to get to the blower motor.

it shouldn' t take more than 15 minutes to get the blower motor out.

    hope that helps

How do you change a car radiator?

My honda crx radiator is leaking a little bit. I am going to order a direct oem replacement. Is it as simple as draining the coolant, taking the old one off, and putting the new one in? then just topping off on coolant? There are only 2 brackets holding it on.How do you change a car radiator?
Not all that easy, there should be at least 4 bolts holding it on. Those bolts may also be holding other parts in place as well, like electrical earths for the headlights. If you don't know exactly what you're doing it is best to go to a mechanicHow do you change a car radiator?
yes pretty much, make sure you idle the motor for about a minute after replacement to allow the system to cycle the fluid through it....you will see bubbles just add more fluid
