How much would a shop charge to install a new engine and change the car from Automatic to Manual?

I am just looking for a ball park estimate. How much would a shop charge to install a new engine and change the car from Automatic to Manual?
To install the engine I would speculate $800 and to convert to manual would probably be more than you would want to pay, somewhere between 2 to 3 grand, there is alot to this procedure, and it can get VERY expensive.. I have a Kia Sephia and I wanted to convert to manual, but I would have to acquire the pedal set, hoses, computer, fuses, shift fork, fluid resivior, transmission, mounts, clutch, CV joints and wiring harness and probably several other things I didn't think of. I though about it also in the 62 Dart I am building, to go from auto to 4-speed, and I figured it to be about $3500 just in parts, and I would do all the work. So if I had a shop do it, I would prolly pay about $6,000 to have it done...How much would a shop charge to install a new engine and change the car from Automatic to Manual?
Change the engine+tranny+harnesses+PCM, together, with one from a wrecked car of same year and model. Don't even separate the engine from the tranny. I call this a ';dry swap';. You'll also need the whole pedal set, shifter, everything that looks like it's unique to that type of tranny.

um im sorry to tell you but its over the 10g mark [better off buying a new car
Unless you've got very deep pockets, I'd advise you just look around for a car with the engine and transmission that you want to drive, sell the one you've got and buy the other. It's going to cost many thousands of dollars, depending upon what engine and transmission you want, plus labor (and that ain't cheap).

I did most of the work convertiong my '62 Corvair to a Spyder, and changed the transmission from a three-speed to a powerglide (my sister was inheriting it), in 1968 and that cost over two thousand dollars (we used a junkyard Spyder engine and automatic)! We wouild have been much better off if we had just bought her a new Corvair....
Not a very cost effective undertaking. Like the other answer, even if the car has sentimental value, conversion jobs are a nightmare both in cost and grief.
well, depending on the cars make and year,,,,,

lets say its a 88 jeep cherokee 4x4 {only an example}

to purchase a good used engine and for us to check it out, service the heads, and blast it to make sure that there are no cracks before we even start to do the car is right around $1500.

then there is the labor side,a starter if needed, flush and boil the radiator, theres right around $1500/$1800 (sub total =$3000/$3300

i just re read the posting, and want to stress that i only quoted you for a good used engine and trans, times my quote by 4 for a new price.

now lets work on the trans issue......

$1200 for a good used automatic trans,$800 labor to remove and replace,(were at $5500/$5800) now in southern california you have a 7.75%tax and a 5% rag/wast oil fee.($700)

and all we would do is remove the clutch peddle and put some insolation tape over the hole.are you ready for the grand total yet ????? ';';$6500';with a warentee,30 days or till it hits the street.

now if its a toyota, the japan engine exchange is $350 as is, and labor is the same $1500 plus fees, and i would not do a trans change on a front wheel drive.

i hope that helped you out a little bit.

unless the car is a rare collectors edition ,i would just buy another car and pass that one on to somebody that has a shop in ther yard.
Even when doing the work yourself swaping engines and transmissions is usually still less cost effective than just buying a different car with the options you want. Not to mention how much of a pain in the *** it would be not only to do it but to keep it running right.

How often do you change your car's blinker fluid?

Inquiring minds want to know. How often do you change your car's blinker fluid?
i got a super cool deal where i can get it changed every day for only $5... i just wish i could find same deal for all my muffler belts, windshield waterproofing, and wheel spindlesHow often do you change your car's blinker fluid?
rofl there is no blinker fluid but if there was I'd shop around cause like 5 bucks a day seems like alot :)
Depends on the number and type of turns I have accomplished. If it has been 40-60K of left turns, there never seems to be that much of a problem.

But, just 8 kilometers or 8 calendar years, whichever comes first -- of right turns and I'll be lucky if don't have to use all the blinker fluid in our household, borrow the neighbor's blinker fluid and use the kiddie's college savings account to get even more blinker fluid.
i changer mine ever other time that i change my muffler bearings, s you know about every 33.5 miles.

Is it possible to change a car from a stick shift to an automatic?

If possible:

How is it done? Is it like replacing the engine?

What would the cost be?

Is this availbale for a Kia Optima? Is it possible to change a car from a stick shift to an automatic?
HA HA HA - kia optima - the labor involved would cost more than the car is worth. however, to answer your question, yes it's possible, but generally done with older/classic cars that have some decent value and or sentimental value for the owner. it just involves changing the transmission and the shift lever, assuming there was an automatic made for a particular model.

no
yes, but you would have to change the tranmission. good luck.
It depends on the make and model. Your model car would have had to have the option of standard shift in order to convert it from auto to stick. most newer cars can't be converted because of slight changes in the models. Older vehicles it is very easy. As simple as adding a flywheel to the engine, clutch linkages, third pedal, and cutting the hole in the floor. Usually, especialy on trucks, you can cannabalise these parts from another vehicle, and some older Ford trucks that are automatic actually have the clutch pedal tied up the to dash.
no you don't have to replace the engine you replace the transmission and everything included in the drive train but the engine,i have did this before but the cost of doing it is so much that it doesn't justify doing it to any car,you can actually go out and trade cars ,and get an automatic cheaper than you can change it over,it cost me around 2 grand to change one over counting time labor and parts, and it wasn't worth it,so id suggest that you don't try it,unless you have about 2 grand laying around that you just don't need, good luck on it.
possible yes, expensive very i would say trade in the car or sell it and get a car with automatic trans because the price of the tranny plus labour will tell you it is not worth it especially with a car that does not have a high resale value.
possible? Yes. Cost Effective? No.
firstly you have to go to the shop which they can take repair
Yes it can be done, but, it would be very expensive, besides buying the automatic, it would also require a new radiator. Also transmission lines from the transmission to the radiator will also need to included in the cost. Another requirement may be linkage that's required from the shifter (you'll need to get a new console and shifter) from inside the car to the transmission. And last but not least, it highly probable that the transmission is computer controlled so getting a new computer may also be required.

Truthfully this is going to be fairly expensive. Your only hope to save money would be to find a wrecked ';donor'; car at a wrecking yard, and do it yourself. A garage would hit you with a labor rate of $100 an hour, give or take $20.
you can but it is a lot of work, you have to change the transmission and then cut holes in the floor for an extra pedal and the shift lever, it is more work than it is worth on a car of that value unless you really want the car to be a manual. i would personally just put an auto back in it.

hope this helps
you can do the tranny swap dont forget the raditor to keep the fluid cool.

  • Can you change a car from Manual Transmission to Auto?

I am turning 16 soon, and I want to get a Toyota Celica. The only problem here is that they only sell used Celica's with Manual Transmission, and I hate Manual! Is there any way I can get that changed, and if so, how much will it cost? Can you change a car from Manual Transmission to Auto?
Well, I don't know why you hate stickshifts; they get better gas mileage, offer better control in bad weather, and are generally more fun to drive. But yes, you can convert a manual transmission car into an automatic transmission. It is, however, a genuine pain in the rear. You must first find a good automatic transmission; they can run anywhere from a piece of junk at a scrap yard for a couple hundred dollars, up to over $2000 for a new one (if you can find a new one, depending on what year you want). Then you have to swap them out, a REALLY big job, even for an experienced mechanic. You'll have to replace the shifter, and you'll have an extra pedal that doesn't do anything on the floor of the drivers footwell, unless you take that out, too. All total, if you go to a mechanic and say 'Put an automatic in it', I would say better than $5000, easy. If you pick up an old transmission somewhere and pay a friend or a family member to do it....maybe $2000, depending on how much the transmission cost in the first place. Can you change a car from Manual Transmission to Auto?
yes, but it costs more than buying a car. learn to drive manual, they're more reliable, faster and get better fuel economy. other than that, hate away.
If you're so uncoordinated you cant shift, you probably wont pass a liscense test anyway.
please tell me your not a guy. but why would you buy a celica as a stick and then convert it to auto? all i can find are auto cars and i want it to be stick.

Can you change a car from right hand drive to left hand drive?

    Like a mazda rx7 fd3s??

Does anyone know any place where they might do this kind of thing? and how bout pricing??

one more question! Is there a 6 speed transmission available for the Fd?Can you change a car from right hand drive to left hand drive?
Expensive, dash, wiring, steering column, steering rack, pedals, some structure, master cylinder, and a ton of stuff I havent thought of.Can you change a car from right hand drive to left hand drive?
    idk
Yes that conversion is possible, its gonna cost you more than the car is worth but its doable, Also there is a 6 speed made by HKS I believe but its gonna cost again, way more than the car is worth.
Anything is ';possible'; , but practical no. It would cost minimum of $10,000 U.S dollars . I don't care what anyone else says , it is crazy expensive to do.

lol it would be much cheaper to just buy a right hand drive car
Pretty funny. Must be loads cheaper to sell those two cars and buy two replacements.

Roughly how much does it cost for a mechanic to change yours car disk brakes?

My friend needs new disk brakes, I offered to do it myself, but she said she will just pay someone. Her mechanic said it woul $168, does that seem like alot?Roughly how much does it cost for a mechanic to change yours car disk brakes?
Hard to say. A lot of it depends on the quality of the pads, and does that include turning the rotors? There are a lot of variables involved to say for sure. However the price quoted doesn't seem to be out of line for the job.

good luckRoughly how much does it cost for a mechanic to change yours car disk brakes?
My husband did them- and Ive been fine but when we had originally called around it was b/t 60-100$ but this is in NC....it varies from shop to state im sure.
$168 is a little high in price but also you gotta take into account how many brakes are being replaced and wht type of brakes are being put on the car ... hope that helped a little.
depends on whats needed. car type, size and if rotors must be serviced. sounds like a fair price.are you really qualified and have the tools to do it.
In dealing with cars, one of my rules is to NEVER take it to a mechanic for a brake job. You can walk away with a bill of over $300.00. When you take it in and tell them you just need brake pads, they will give you a quote on that. However, once they have your car, you will be getting a call that you also need your discs either turned or replaced, as well as your calipers.

Since you are speaking of ';disk brakes';, I assume you have disk on front and drums on the rear. 80% of your stopping comes from the front brakes, so they wear out faster.

New front pads will only cost you about $30.00, and they are easy to replace. However, don't offer to do it for her unless you have experience at such things.

Jack her up and pull the wheel and remove the caliper. Look at the pads and ensure they are evenly worn. If they are not evenly worn, or the pad next to the caliper piston is worn more than the outside, you need work on the caliper. Don't try to rebuild it. Just buy a new one. Check your disc and if it is really rough, have it ';turned'; or replace it. Taking off too much metal from the disc will cause it to overheat and you will have what is called ';brake fade';.

On some cars you don't even have to remove the caliper. Just push in the piston and slip in the new pads. If you put on a new caliper, you will need to bleed the brake line.

I NEVER advise anyone to take their car to a shop for a ';brake job'; if they know someone who has the expertise to do it for them.

How to change a car's windshield by yourself?

    What tools do I need?

What should I watch out for to ensure safety? How to change a car's windshield by yourself?
windshield removal tool is a must. Glue to secure the new one. Watch for broken glass, if it don't fit don't force it.How to change a car's windshield by yourself?
I'll never understand why people will not put the vehicle year make and model in their questions. Not all windshields come out or go in the same way.
its a trick only few people know. maybe somebody can go over prcedures with you but if not done right it can leak or worse break. I would let the glass shop install it.
I don't think installation is a big cost in getting a windshield replaced. I wouldn't want to give it a try.

i am trying to buy a car.

but some cars are cheap when they changed out their motors.

how much will the insurance go up if the motor is changed.

and how much will the insurance go up if the car is modified? Will Insurance goes up when I change my car motor?
the insurance company only goes by the cars serial numbers as that gives them all the information they need about the car, when you install a larger motor they don't know that. Will Insurance goes up when I change my car motor?
Well, it depends on how it is modified and what motor you used for the swap. Usually, Insurance companies will charge more for cars that are sporty or have more power. On the modification side, if you do a lot of modifications to your car, chances are the prices for Insurance will go up. I think the reason for this is because if you do happen to get into an accident, it will be harder for them to find the parts you had due to being aftermarket, so they charge more for the policy so that you can get a better coverage on your car.

I am relocating to Michigan from Canada. How to change my car plate from Canadian to Michigan's?

Should I register it at the border? Any special document I should have? It's a 2006 car.

Thank youI am relocating to Michigan from Canada. How to change my car plate from Canadian to Michigan's?
I believe you'll just need to go to the DMV (department of motor vehicles) in the county you'll be living in. You might need to take a written test to get a drivers lisence and registration, your new residence also needs to be reported to your insurance company...if you're not going to be in the US for more than 6 months you may not have to register the vehicle in the US, just simply declare your length of stay at the border. The border may have more info for you.

How can i change stock car radio but still have the steering wheel controls work?

I just bought a 1998 monte carlo, and while i love a good tape deck, i need a cd player in there. but i love steering my wheel controls but cant seem to find anything anywhere that says how to make them work with a new unit. I had a similar problem with my acura. im sure this all may depend on what stereo im going to be putting in there, but has anyone been able to achieve these results? How can i change stock car radio but still have the steering wheel controls work?
They are many companies that make adapters that will integrate the steering wheel controls into a new aftermarket unit. You just have to make sure your car's wiring has the ability to be controlled by something other than the factory radio and, if you purchase a new unit, that it has a wired remote input on the back of the unit.

For that, there are not too many units out there available for that and it may take some research on your part to find both a unit that can do a wired control and a part to integrate your controls.

*Edit...here is a link to a company and part for controls. They have a list of radios you can get to use with it.

go to a salvage yard or junk yard and get one that has a cd player from the factory out of a monte carlo ,the plug ins will be the same and will fit like it came that way.that's the easiest way to go.

Is it possible to change manual car windows to automatic?

I have a 06 chevy cobalt and it has standard windows that you have to roll up yourself. I was wondering if its possible to get them set up to be automatic handled by a switch.

Is it possible and if so how much you think it might cost?Is it possible to change manual car windows to automatic?
You can buy kits from JC Whitney for about $250, but you need someone to install it.

    See this link:

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProduIs it possible to change manual car windows to automatic?
Yes it is possible. As far as the price ,it will be sort of expensive. My opinion, cars depreciate in value as time passes. So you want to think is it really worth it. Depending on the circumstances you wont get what you payed for it, only what its worth ,at the time of sell. The buyer's not going to give you extra because of such a change to the window operation. You'll be losing more than anything.
Too much work and $$. I wouldn't bother.

Besides, what if your car plunks into a deep lake? You'll be glad you can lower the windows then. With electric it may not be possible then.
Sure, it's possible. It is more trouble than it's worth? Yes. For parts and labor, you are easily looking at a grand.
sure it's possible, anything's possible if you have the money to do it, check with the dealer for the prices.
It can be done but will be very expensive with new parts.

The best way to do it is to find a junked car identical to yours that has power windows. Buy the parts off of it and retrofit your car. You will need to buy the door pannels also because yours have holes in them where the crank goes and lack the mount for the power switches.

You will also have to run a custom circuit to power the windows.

How do I change my car title to MS?

When I asked after getting my car tag they told me there was nothing else to do. Just wondering if I missed anything. How do I change my car title to MS?
Nope- you're done. The title relates to the car itself, not the state you live in. As long as you've informed your insurance agent, you're good.

You do not need to change the address on the title every time you move- you'll just have to supply your current address when you eventually sell it. While your license and insurance should reflect your correct address, the title does not. In fact no one should ever see it- it should be kept in a very safe place- and never in the car!How do I change my car title to MS?
You are required to change your drivers license and car tags when you move. You don't need to do anything with your title though.
You may want to call your local DMV and see if you need to change the address on the title.

How can you tell it's time to change your car oil?

Confession: I am trying to save money, so I don't want to just change my oil whenever the little sticker from Penzoil says to. But I don't know how to tell when it needs to be changed. Can anyone help me?How can you tell it's time to change your car oil?
Many older cars need to have their oil changed every 3000 miles or 3 months. But it's approximate... If you do more highway driving (long distance) and less city driving (start-stop / short trip), then you can go a little more.

If you want to save more money, try changing the oil yourself - it's usually less than 1/2 the cost of a shop doing it.How can you tell it's time to change your car oil?
I think it is after 1000 miles of driving.
best to do it every 3000 miles, dont take the risk, could be in for more money in the long run, save money and do it yourself.....
every 5,000 miles sooner if you drive hard.

you can smell it or look at it etc. but $20 is small price to pay to keep your car running.
think of how many miles a week you drive ..... most drive a round 300 or so miles and some where a round 3000 miles or so is best time to change it...... and about you saving 20 bucks or the price of a car sure you dont have to change the oil at all but then it might last a few miles like that even longer but then it will be good for only junk when it comestime to resell or when it comes to repairing the cost will be a lot more than the 20 bucks oil change..... anyone can do a oil change only two tools needed one for the oil plug sizes vary and one to remove the filter a few differant kinds and sizes but both cheap you might get the oil and filter and the tools to do it for the price of a couple .... ive done my own work mostly on every car ive had saving me big money most of the time most of the thing that do go wrong with most cars are the easiest one to fix most of the time any ways easy as changing a flat tire you can do a oil change
if you using conventional oil 3000 miles or 3 months what ever comes first. you let oil get old and it turns into sludge and you don't want that. Sludge will kill a engine. its like clocking your blood vain.

If you running synatiic oil like Mobil 1 you can go for 5000 miles or 5 months. I wouldn't push it past that.. I do mine at 3000 mile no matter what. If you learn to do it yourself its cheaper save you money and it's really easy.
The number of miles between changes means nothing. Oil changes always were recommended in miles because cars have odometers. What really matters is how you drive it, does it get up to operating temperature every time you drive, or are you taking short trips? If you do the normal driving routine - like most people - change your oil when you have burned 200 gallons of gas. It's the number of combustion events that the oil is exposed to that makes it dirty.

Short trips allow moisture to condense and if the engine doesn't get up to operating temperature for at least a couple of minutes, the moisture won't ever evaporate. The little old lady who only drives to church and back should change her oil every 3 months. The traveling salesman who drives 60,000 miles a year could go 9-10,000 miles between changes.

Just as important as changing the oil is who does the job. You want someone who is capable of taking a look at the whole car and recognizing something that is near failure. That probably rules out most of the quick lube places. Pay a little more and have the work done at a real repair facility. The dealerships in my area are $5 less than the quick lube place, but it takes an hour to get it done.

If your afraid of getting 'ripped off' by a repair place just use the ';no money'; excuse. Say ';I don't have the extra $';. Then go home and seek out a second opinion. If you've been having all your work done at a quick lube it's likely that some of the more involved (and expensive) services on your car have been overlooked because the quick lube guys don't do that sort of work, so they never look for it.
You have a better chance of your car lasting you longer if you do it on time. Plus I think you get better gas mileage. I did notice that when I need an oil change my car doesnt run as well.

In Calif, (and the NY rules are probably similar) you take your car to your local (in your case NY) DMV or AAA Auto Club. An out of state car must be inspected for VIN#, safety and emission lables and odometer disclosure. This is a FAMILY Transfer, so you are exempt from the USE TAX and transfer smog. You will be asked what the value of the car is...get that from Kelly Blue Book. It should be done within 20 days of car entering NY.

You need the signed Title, car and cash or check.

You deal with NY DMV. Because your car needs NY plates now.

Your Dad needs to do a Release of Liability with the CT DMV.

To as much as replacing the theft deterrent module on a newer car to the tune of around $1000 dollars. I need to renew my driver's license in my new state this week and am wondering how that all affects my car in my old state. I am still back and forth for awhile and plan to drive it when I'm back there (and a friend drives it there now). How do I cover all the legal bases?Do I need to change my car registration from the state I'm moving from, when its not moving with me yet?
When you move the car to the new state, and update the insurance for the requirements of the new state then get your registration changed over. Loaning your car to a friend who is driving it and the car not being in the new location is reason for not changing registration yet.Do I need to change my car registration from the state I'm moving from, when its not moving with me yet?
You must be a resident of the state to have the car reregistered in that state. You will be fine until your tags expire.
check with a local cop states say 10 day license and reg but ck with the dmv as well

Do I need fancy tools to change my car tires?

My winter tires have their own rims. I've been changing them on my own with the tools provided with the car with the basics I learned back in high school. What I don't have is a that ';torque wrench'; or whatever it was called that tells you how tight the bolt is fastened. Would it be a good idea to buy one? Do I need fancy tools to change my car tires?
It is a good idea to have a torque wrench. You can tighten the wheels enough so that they won't fall off by guessing how tight you have them but there are problems from this; stud and nut damage from over tightening, rotor warp-age from uneven tightening, loss of wheel from under tightening. As a mechanic, I torque wheels to specification. Not because I can't guess well with my impact, but because I do my job properly.Do I need fancy tools to change my car tires?
I've changed wheels on all of my cars and only ever used a wheel spanner and tightened as much as I could. Never had any problems, an extendable wheel spanner is great as it gives you more leverage.
If you aren't very good with changing the tyres or are unsure in anyway its always better to be safe then sorry , when changing a tyre always becarful not to ';cross thread'; the bolt as it goes on dont force it i usually just tighten it as hard as i can with my arms when I can tighten any further I stand on it your best undoing the bolts why the wheel is on the road jack the car up raise the wheel take bolts tyre off put the new tyre on tighten bolts as far as your arms will tighten them, then let the jack go put the tyre back on the road and then check eat nut one at a time by standing on the wrench with about half your wait
Do you mean you are changing tires already on rims or putting different tires on existing rims? If the former, all you really need is a car-jack and a 4-way, both of which you can buy at your local auto parts store(you may need some bolt-loosener if the lug-nuts are rusty). If the latter, i would suggest going to a tire shop and letting them put the tires on the rims, then balance them and then put them on your car.
I have changed many tires as a do it yourselfer never using a torque wrench but now as a shop owner, a torque wrench is cheap insurance even for the do it yourselfer, you can do damage by overtightening your lug nuts and obviously by under tightening you could lose a wheel, for a do it yourselfer you can pick up a cheap torque wrench at autozone and I feel it would be worth your while
change out your tires, make sure the lugs are tight.then go to a shop and pay the guy ten bucks to check that they are tight with an impact wrench.
It would not hurt to have a torque wrench. It isn't really critical but I do it myself to my wheels. It makes me feel better to know that they are tight .

What exactly do i need to change my car to stick shift?

i have a 98 honda civic ex but im going to convert to a 2000si on the outside but i want to put a b18c in my carbut i need to also change the car from aautomaticto stick shift so what exactly would i need to do this. and how much would the parts cost? What exactly do i need to change my car to stick shift?
clutch pedal; clutch master cylinder, manual gearbox;extended pedal rack;clutch cable; clutch plate;manual pressure plate;plenty of time and a best friend who is a good mechanic;or a mechanic who works cheap cos if you have never done an auto to manual conversion you are in for a s*** load of mucking about. good luck. What exactly do i need to change my car to stick shift?
you need A LOT of parts and money. Ef owner here.
A standard transmission with appropriate adapters and a Sawsall.
Do you have at least $5,000 you want to spend?

Combination Clutch Brake Assembly, Linkage to go to the Bell Housing, Bell Housing, Clutch, Throwout Bearing, Flywheel, Transmission, Shift Linkage, Shifter, Drive Shaft Shortening or Lengthening, Speedometer hookup for the transmission, and Speedometer Calibration.

On top of that, any mechanic will charge about $60 an hour labor, and it is not a quick job.

It is smarter to sell the car and buy one that is a stick shift already. You will also need to have a new Transmission Crossmember and the brackets on the frame for it as the spacing is not the same as an automatic.
You need a different car that is set up like you want it.

the only feasible way to do this would be to have a donor car with a manual transmission and then you would essentially have to turn your car into it. The amount of changes needed are so extensive that you will be much better to just sell your car and buy a different one. Some of the things that may be different are your pedals of course since you need to add a clutch pedal. The steering column is often different, computer may be affected since auto transmissions provide data to the computer. Depending on the vehicle the engine mounts may be different, What you are suggesting is VERY complicated, not like it was in the 1960's.

  • Oil change is it really necessary?

is it really necessary to change car oil? I have driven 40000 miles on my old car before i sold it and had no problems with no oil change. I have 10000 miles on my new car and havent changed the oil yet and no problems. Is it really necessary to change the oil? Does it help the car motor last longer? How many miles is really the true number before oil change is needed?Oil change is it really necessary?
you may think its fine, but your doing real damage to your engine, and just because you cant see it doesn't mean its not happening. Your gonna lose a rod one of these days, because the oil you think you have in your engine will be no more than pisss water and boom !Oil change is it really necessary?
For most cars if not all, oil replacement is necessary to keep your cars engine in good shape. You should change oil %26amp; oil filter every 3-4K miles.

Oil is like water to humans, you have to stop %26amp; pee so you don't get sick. You will also notice your car running better.
The number one thing to do to make your engine last longer is to change the oil regularly. Acid and crud builds up in the oil. Yes an engine can appear to be doing just fine for 10,000 miles without an oil change. But the engine may die after 50,000 miles or so. With regular oil changes, it may go 200,000 miles or more before it 's dead.
foolish, your car is the second largest investment that you will make in your life, don't you think that you would want to follow the professionals advice and change the oil in it to preserve your investment. the manufacturer has a maintenance schedule in the owners manual, look at that for the mileage but it is usually 3000 miles based on the severe driving schedule, YES your driving type does fit into that category. if you so much as sit at a stop light, that is severe driving.
Of course, Change it now unless you dont care if the engine locks up in a few thou. miles
you should change your engine oil every 3500 miles, contaminates builds up in the used oil and the loses it ability to lubricate engine components properly ,some cars go up to 5000 miles, but an engine that has been changed at 3500 miles will last longer and stay cleaner internally ,but you can check with the car dealer or manufacturer and they will give the correct mileage to change your car oil
    Just remember this...

We recently bought a car and put the title in my name and my husbands name. We live in VA but, since he is in the military, my husband is a FL resident. We recently got a bill from our local treasurer for a hefty fee for taxes. If we can switch the title to just my husband's name we won't have to pay the taxes. When to change all the car hose?

how often should you change your car hoses or when do you change them I had my car for about 6yrs runs great including in and out of town driving. (141k miles 95 ford escort LX 1.9)

I take care of my car by doing prevenative maintenance.

right now I'm about to change the timing belt and water pump its been about 4yrs for the belt/and water pump so I'm thinking about replacing all the hose while I'm under the hood.

and soon I think about replacing the fuel pump this summer, Its been on my car ever since i had it I think that need to be replaced too before it cause me trouble even tho it seems fine.

or how often should you change a fuel pump anyway? When to change all the car hose?
Anything rubber should be replace when it becomes more brittle than flexible. (or earlier if it is unusable for other reasons) For hoses, this typically means that when the start to show fine spider-cracking on the surface... (that way it doesn't develop into coarse fail-cracking)

Fuel pumps ought to be changed only when they die. Most after-market fuel pumps are of such poor quality that you're better off with your original old pump until it's dead. When to change all the car hose?
If they appear cracked or worn replace
hoses should be changed if they show cracks or if they become soft to the touch like a ballon that kind of soft........fuel pumps on ford escort do not usually go bad, i've checked with ford and they tell me that they rarely go,i had an escort with 300000ks with the original pump and it never missed a beat

Anyone know how to fit/change a car seat cover on a fiesta van?

I need to replace my drivers seat cover on my fiesta van. I have just paid the unbelievable price to get a new seat cover for my van, but they don't supply instructions on how to change it, instead they want to charge me æ‹¢89 + pounds to fit it!

Can anyone help with how it should be done, it would be greatly appreciated!

ThanksAnyone know how to fit/change a car seat cover on a fiesta van?
First get ready for some sore fingers. You will have to remove the seat from your van, turn it over and look for the brass coloured rings through the cover. These have a split in them so can be opened up and removed (don't loose them!) once you have done this you may find some plastic clips on there too. Once all the clips are off you should be able to pull the cover away from the foam on the base up to the back rest, there may be a couple more rings holding the back rest cover on. Pull off the rest of the cover and turn the new one inside out then start to stretch it over the seat, refitting the clips and rings on the way. This may take a bit of messing and pulling with the cover to make it sit straight on the foam. You will probably have to remove all trim and the runners from the seat before you start. Good luck.

Is it easy to change a car break light?

One of my break lights went out lastnite. I want to know if its easy to change it out. I was just gonna go buy one from Autozone and replace it, but since I don't know what I doing, I just needed to have an idea of how much work and time will it take for me to fix it. If its alot of work, I'll take it to an auto shop nearby. Is it easy to change a car break light?
try http://ebay.com for manuals and http://google.com for websites about it :)Is it easy to change a car break light?
yes, all you need to do is unscrew it and replace it
    yes
Yes it is easy to change a break light.
it's easy! Some simple DIY skills.

Depending on the location of the bulb, remove the lighting panels in the trunk. Some are snap-on while others needs to be unscrewed.

there are at least two brake bulbs in a car, plus 2 indicators and reverse too. So if you take some time to figure out how to replace them, then imagine how much you could save when you have to replace all the bulbs when they blow out.

    Good luck and have fun!
it is fairly simple but if you get there when they aren't very busy one of the staff may help you out and if you offer a tip$2-5 they wont tease you to your face. lol. they don't mind helping out it just seems some one want a hand when there is 45 other people in the store is when get hectic
Brake lights are simple to change in most cars. Some of the newer ones may be a little more difficult, but not impossible. Before you go to Auto Zone, take out the old one to take with you. Some of them can be removed just by opening the trunk and pulling out the lamp base, then push while turning counter clockwise. Others may require that you remove the red lens from the outside with a screwdriver first.
Fairly easy. Your owners manual (you do know where that is don't you?) will tell you what kind of bulbs to get and also how to change them.
All you need is a Phillips screwdriver or a pair of pliers. Pop your trunk and look at the light assembly from the back side, you should be able to see wires, in sets, going into some plug like things. twist the plug to the right, and it should come out of the hole with the light bulb. now just twist the light bulb to the left to remove it from the plug. Put in the new bulb, and you just saved a lot of money.

How do I change my car stereo?

I have a 2001 infiniti G20 with the stock bose sound system.. I have the stereo I bought for my last car and Im wanting to switch the two.

Is this possible to do alone?

I dont know how to remove the BOSE system from the car, and then can I just unplug the cords and replug them in my new kenwood???

anyone who knows how to remove the stereo or has any tips please help. How do I change my car stereo?
Well Jeff is half right about the mounting kit for the dash. But you need a bose interface adapter . Most bose system have amp on each speaker so just using a standard wiring kit won't work but it could damage the new stereo or the speakers. You will need to get the pac ROEM-NIS2 OR THE AOEM-NIS2 . There about $60 .Use the link below I hope this helpsHow do I change my car stereo?
Yes, and it's very simple to do, as well.

You will want to buy the ';fit kit'; for your Infiniti, which will include a plastic or metal bracket that fits in the dashboard in place of the original stereo and a wiring harness that will go from the factory stereo connector to a series of color-coded wires for each speaker, power, etc.

If you still have the wiring harness for your kenwood, you will be able to match up the colors and crimp them together (butt splice) to make a connector that goes from the back of the kenwood to the factory harness. No permanent modifications will need to be made to the vehicle using this installation.

I usually buy my fit kits from crutchfield.com, but I don't know that they have one for a 2001 infiniti. I recommend looking on an infiniti forum and asking people what wiring harness and fit kit they use.
You should be able to do it by yourself depending on how mechanically/installing capable you are( I know poor sentence structure)

  • How often should i change my car's transmision oil ???

I own an isuzu rodeo automatic trans ... use it only 5000 miles a year ... service garages recomend to change every six months ( they will make more money if we change every month) ... but if a car is not used very often i think we should base on miles ...How often should i change my car's transmision oil ???
My own car's Maintenance Schedule says every 30,000 miles for Transmission Flushes. I'm about ready to have my 2nd flush. Since you use your car so little (relatively speaking it would take you 6 years 6 x 5000 = 30,000)

    I found a source that says every 2 years/ 24,000 miles.

In your case, I would go with that estimate.

Unless you feel your transmission fluid has been contaminated in some way, or has worn out turning brownish color it should still be ok for even that long. (2 years)

In any event, I feel that every 6 months is far too often.

(except to the service garage that'll be taking your money, lol)How often should i change my car's transmision oil ???
Follow the manufactures schedule. Don't listen to any garage that tells you different. Changing to frequently will cause more damage in the long run
Depends for me. Automatics I follow the schedule in the owner's manual. Manuals I don't unless the trans is out for a clutch job or something.

Front (if there is one) and rear differential service I follow the schedule also.
if it was me every 75,000 miles
some isuzus recommended to drain and fill with new fluid at one interval and a service with filter change at another. go by manufacturer recommendations. every six months is too often unless you drive like 100,000 miles a year.
Every 6 months? that's too much, the service garage is just trying to make more money from you.

with an auto tranny, you need to replace the fluid and the filter according to your manual. but on average, you only change it every 50,000 miles or 5 yrs. but it really depends on how hard you drive it. even though you rarely use it.
    I'd say 8k miles or 8 months.
first of all are you talking about a trans flush and refill if you are it's probably only nessassry once a year at most if even that no more often than you drive it i think the shop is just trying to make money off you, because it cost alot of money to have that done
based on miles the tranny oil should be changed every 60,000 miles to prevent a mechanical break down.
Some but not all recommend changing the fluid every 25-30k miles. Some even go higher at 45-50k miles. You do not need to change it every month.

How long it takes takes to change the car oil if you're using the Synthetic one?

I plan to buy a car that use Synthetic oil.How long it takes takes to change the car oil if you're using the Synthetic one?
Good synthetic oils - Amsoil, Royal Purple, or Red Line. Use good Filters like Wix, Napa Gold, Purolator brand - Pure One filters, Baldwin, Amsoil, and Hastings.

Stay away from Fram, or Supertech filters. How long it takes takes to change the car oil if you're using the Synthetic one?
    same time
1 any car can use syntetic oil

    2 takes same time

    geeeze
Any car will take synthetic oil. You just dump a gallon of the synthetic stuff in rather than conventional when doing an oil change. No magic or mystery to it.
Are we talking change intervals or how long the oil change itself takes?

For intervals, usually I say suggest in following the owner's manual but if your car is out of warranty, you can probably go at least 5,000 miles on a good synthetic oil.

For the time it actually takes to change the synthetic motor oil, same time, the steps are the same.

hey to answer your question simply about 5grand i've answered one of your questions before about your car, you'll need a box clutch kit, dual mass fly wheel, stick, pedal set up, tailshaft and you'll need to tell the ECU through the TECH2 that it's a manual. Look it's not going to do anything to ya car mate you'll just burn clutches out sounds like your a hoon. To tell ya the truth the Auto's go better than the manuals as in a manual you have a fly wheel and that transfer of torque through the crank is not really good for them ecotech motors on start up as you'll hear it as a loud chirp through the tensioner on your drive belt. In auto's you have a torque convertor and pressure plate which takes up this torque before it goes through the crankshaft. Ya silly if ya do i only recommend this for GEN3 V8's. it will cost you more than the car is worth you would be better off starting over again with a new car
You would be looking at a few grand for a gBox, but its not that easy. You will possibly have to change the wiring to the gbox as well as change the computer to work with a manual box, you may also have to get the tail shaft shortened of lengthened. Not to mention the hassel of installing an extra peddle.

It is a big job even on less complicated older cars. Being a fairly new car i would look at taking your mods off it and selling it as a standard car and buying a manual ute. There is a fairly big selection of manual utes around, (see carsales.com.au), and put your mods back on that ute. It may cost u a few grand sell and buy a new ute but, by a very very long shot the easiest way, and may still end up costing you less than buying gbox's and computers and auto elecrics ect...
mainly it is a self shopjob, it takes a little labor boring holes, clutch cylinder hookup. changing out steering column if applicable, installing clutch pedal, if bracket exeist under dash. most us cars have the brackets and firewall mountings for both auto and manual. but i would not know about yours.

If you're changing an out of state title which is in your name that will work. You'll also need to have the car with you as it has to be inspected to certify the VIN. that is entirely up to the dealer,,whatever they will allow..there is a lemon law that does protect you in case of the car not functioning properly, but if you aready signed off and are expecting your payment book,or already have it,,your deal is pretty much done,,,but I would ask the dealer,,tell them that you are really unhappy with your decision and would like a different car from them....see what happensAfter I buy a vehicle and sign the contract how many days do I have to change the car for another one?
If you've signed the contract and taken possession of the car, it's yours and there is no ';grace period'; for returning or trading.

There is a common misconception that there are laws that provide a 3-day or 72-hours period in which to cancel a car purchase or lease deal. There are no such laws, in any state. The misconception comes about because there are such laws for some other types of purchases, but not for automobiles. Unfortunately, the incorrect information keeps getting spread around the Internet on answer boards such as this by misinformed people.
No, no, a thousand times no!

There is no return period on a car unless written into the contract. The 3 day period so many people think exists is only for sales contrcats signed in your home. Enjoy your new car.
Read your contract. If the contract says you can do that, then do whatever the contract says to do. If the contract doesn't mention that then you can't.

There is no right of rescission by law in ANY of the 50 States or DC or at the Federal level. There is a widely held misconception that you have 3 days to rescind the contract and return the vehicle. This is totally FALSE.
There is NO right to return a car because you changed your mind.

There is NO right to return a car because you changed your mind.

There is NO right to return a car because you changed your mind.

I can not say this enough!!!

The 72 hours rule that everyone keeps talking about applies to in home sales. It does not apply when you go to a ';normal place of business';. It was designed to prevent people from being pressured into signing contracts just to get the salesman to leave their home. When you go to a place of business, you always have the option of walking out. You can not walk out of a sales situation in your own home.

When you take delivery of a vehicle, and drive it off the dealers lot, you own it!! The dealer is not required to take it back, and most likely will not. If he does, you will have to buy another vehicle from him, because he is not going to refund your money.

If he does let you out of the deal, you will pay more for the other car!!

You own a car!! Enjoy it
    Congrats on your new car.

Unless your dealer is a really nice guy and hasn't sent in the paperwork to MV and the bank, it's yours. I doubt he'll exchange, and he won't allow you to cancel the deal.
None, unless the dealer specifically offers an exchange policy. You bought it, it's yours. Not liking a vehicle you should have carefully considered before you bought it is not a valid reason to try and void a contract. You're going to have a few years to learn to like it.
The only dealer who allows this is Carmax, where they give you up to 5 days to exchange the car for another one even if you signed the contract and obtained financing.

No other dealer anywhere in the USA allows a buyer to back out or change their mind once the contract is signed, even at Friday night @ 9 PM solely because they did not like the car.
I understand that three days are allowed for a remorse refund, but that may vary according to state; don't delay!! (48 hours??)

I bought a car with a co-signer. The car is paid off and I now want to sell the car to Carmax. They require that both parties listed be present. My co-signer lives in another state. You can (I am pretty sure) get a signed release of interest. It will need to be notarized and check with your local title laws to be sure, but they should be able to quickly answer your question.

How To Change A Car Battery

Changing a car battery is one of those tasks, like replacing a tire or changing the oil, that most people can do without professional help. Unlike changing the oil, however, this job does require the use of a few specific tools. Having a good wrench on hand is the most important, as batteries tend to be secured into the engine block using bolts of various size.

You will also want to keep workmen檚 gloves or even latex gloves on hand for the simple reason that most automotive engines are suffused with oil and grease for consistent operation. Finally, grab water and a rag as simple cleaning measures can go a long way toward giving you reliable performance for years to come.

Your first step is to buy a replacement battery that suits your engine檚 specs. Although most people simply read what they have on their existing battery and head to the store, you may get considerable benefit by upgrading to a different chemistry or a battery with more intelligent current management.

Some of the best-selling products in the country now contain built-in hardware you can use in the case of a dead battery, and several are specifically rated for cold weather use and the like.

Open the hood and remove both leads to your car檚 existing battery. You want to disconnect the black lead first, followed by the red, as this order helps prevent electrical shock and a dangerous short circuit. Once the terminals are disconnected, removing the battery requires that you unscrew the bracket holding it in place.

Once again, caution counts here ?although the risk of shock is minimal, you want to avoid making contact with conductive metal engine parts if at all possible. Lift the battery out of the engine by bending with your knees and supporting it from beneath ?car batteries can be astonishingly heavy! Dispose of the discarded battery at your local repair shop.

Installing the new battery is as simple as reversing what you just did. Make sure the cable terminals are clean and unobstructed first, however, as the last thing you want is for a flawless battery to be rendered useless by poor contacts. Water and a stiff brush are usually sufficient to clean these terminals, though in extreme cases you may want to try baking soda or a dedicated battery cleaning solution from your local auto store. Attach the connectors to the new battery, screw the bracket into place, close the hood and try the ignition.
    remove negative

    remove positive

remove screw that holds down battery

    remove battery

    place new batter yin

    screw in the screw

    connect positive

    connect negative

    job done
    What kind of car?

I don't know where I got the down thumb from but not all car batteries set out in the open.

Most BMW batteries are under the rear seat, LX body Chrysler's are in the trunk, some LH body Dodge Chrysler are in the right fender well and so on.

If you are trying to help this person please do so.
first thing is remove negitive cable then remove positive cable remove the hold down strap remove battery install new battery install positive cable then neg cable then install hold down
under the hood of your car the battery has two cables hooked to it. you will need some wrenches to take the off. TAKE THE BLACK (NEGATIVE) CABLE OFF FIRST!

  • How does the car paint change on car websites?

for example, if you go to a website and select a color, the paint changes though the rest of the car remains the same. If it is done with photoshop (or another image-editing program), how do they keep the reflections on the car the same? the one i was looking at, just for the record, was the 09 chrysler town and country.

they also do this on ebags, but i think they might just use a different bag for that. How does the car paint change on car websites?
Yes, it is done in Photoshop or another image editor. Photoshop has a way to alter color in photos without altering the actual object at all--making it easy to change paint colors without affecting reflections. How does the car paint change on car websites?

When did you change the car seat to forward facing? How old was ur child?

How much did they weigh and how tall were they?

I took my daughter for her check up and was told not to turn her car seat around yet because she are changing the laws to where she stays rear facing until she is 2....Problem is she is 30 inches tall and weighs 20 pounds....The straps are tight on her and they have no more give....Should i call and talk to the doc or where can i find the state laws...We live in texas.

Thanks! When did you change the car seat to forward facing? How old was ur child?
I believe in Texas the law is still that they have to be at least one year of age and weigh at least 20 lbs. I changed my oldest son's car seat around when he was 14 months because he didn't weigh 20 lbs until then. My youngest son is almost 8 months and is 29 inches tall and weighs over 20 lbs, so he will be turned around on his first birthday. You can call the highway patrol's non emergency number and get the up to date information. When did you change the car seat to forward facing? How old was ur child?
Please - look into rear facing your babies beyond 1. There is hard data that proves it is 75% safer to rear face a child to age 2+.

I live in Texas as well. My 19 month old was probably about 7 or 8 months when I turned him around. He was almost 20 pounds. I don't know how tall he was. His doctor told me when he is one and weighs 20 pounds. We were stopped by police when he was younger and they didn't say anything to me. My 6 month old I haven't turned around yet. But I will soon.

If the straps are too tight then get her a new car seat and turn her around. My son is perfectly fine and he now 19 months and loves to look out the windows and see all the cars, etc... I haven't heard of that law yet. Or that law changing.

    Good Luck!
i also live in texas and i had to wait until my son was 22lbs. normally the car seat you have will say in the manual or on the actual seat itself what the maximum weight and height is. you might have to upgrade to a different car seat. you might also be able to call your local police dept. or dept. of public safety and ask what the requirements are for facing your child forward. hope this helps.
If the straps are too tight then you need to move up to a convertible carseat. Those can face backwards. We waited until our kids were 1 yr old but they have always been big for their age. The only reason for backward facing is the risk of neck injury. I think by age 1 they are developed enough to face forward. I dont see how a 2 year old would fit, their legs would be too long!
we lived in Tx at the time, my son was about 11 months, and was 20 lbs. I havent heard of that law yet. but i know that they did change the booster sit law, your child has to be 8 now before you can stop using them. Call the DMV, maybe? they should know
My son was 1 when we switched him. It is best to keep them rear-facing as long as possible, but I could not get my son to stop crying while riding in the car rear facing.

If your baby does not complain keep her rear-facing as long as the weight restrictions allow.
I remember seeing an ad for Graco on a ';Rear for a Year'; Campaign. They have rear facing car seats that go up to over 30 lbs I believe. It's black and red. Check it out on BabiesRUs.com
My daughter is 16 months. At her 12 month check-up she was 20lbs. and 31.5 inches tall. She's still rear facing. It's safest, and I feel no need to turn her around yet. She doesn't complain :)
We switched the seat to forward facing when our kids were 1 and roughly 20 lbs.
I waited until my child was 13. I'm over protective.
    She was newborn.
    One year old.

How do you know when to change your car timing belt?

I have a Fiat punto 2002 that wont start. everytime i try starting it, it wont start. It sounds like the fan just switches on. I took it to a garage. They have said the timing belt has gone but i dont see how it is because it has not snapped.

The car mileage is only 28k.How do you know when to change your car timing belt?
i change my belts on every car i buy...yours is missing teath at the bottom....the crank spinns but the reat of the engine stays still...thats not the worst of it..your head/valves could be damaged....How do you know when to change your car timing belt?
You check your owner's manual. Unless something is defective, the belt should be replaced at the manufacturer-specified interval.

Even in the 70s, Fiats had longer timing belt intervals than that. Most modern engines have intervals of at LEAST 60,000 miles, and many are over 100,000.

If your timing belt was out, it would probably do more than ';sound like the fan switches on.'; Depending on what type of engine it has (interference or non-interference) it would either just not work, but should at least turn over, or you'd hear the pistons banging into the valves, pretty much destroying the cylinder head.

Oh, and the timing belt is not a belt that you can see on the outside of the engine. Being so critical to the function and health of the engine, it is encased in its own little cover. Almost every engine that has a timing belt does it like this. You have to actually remove the timing belt cover to see the state of the timing belt. What you're looking at is probably just an alternator, power steering, air conditioning, and possibly fan belt.
Take it to a different mechanic.

Maybe when they said it has gone they meant its worn down too much? I don't know. Mine snapped on me in my first car. I was driving home from work in the middle of winter and had to sit in my car for an hour till the tow truck came. I was on the highway but on a bridge thing (overpass?), my car just all of a sudden quit. I was lucky I was at the top though becuase I was able to coast down the rest of the overpass and get off on the offramp.

The only thing though is when it went it snapped and wrecked my pistons or something. So the whole engine had to be replaced.

Man 28k, sounds low for a timing belt. Yea, I'd get a second opinion. Good luck!

Edit: To the first answers comment: ';If the engine WON'T turn over when you turn the key, its a battery, starter or ignition switch problem.'; I don't think this is true, because when mine snapped it was like my whole car just died. Nothing worked when trying to turn it over.
Try taking it to another garage if you dont think its a proper estimate. You would have to take the valve cover off and check the valve train and the crank position to see if everything is lined up properly. but first I would: 1)Check ignition with spark tester inline with plug 2)Check fuel injection system by spraying intake with starter fluid, if it trys to run, something is wrong with fuel injection system.
The teeth can sheer off the belt, so it isn't snapped but not working.

    Its easy to check.

Take the cam belt cover off (plastic cover)

Turn the engine over, the belt should move as the engine turns over. If it doesn't move when the engine moves, its lost some of its teeth,

Big job to fix as the head may need to come off.

Cam belts should be changed at 50k or 80k or 100k+ it depends on the engine and the type of driving.

    I bet the 28K is 128K on a 2002

If the engine WON'T turn over when you turn the key, its a battery, starter or ignition switch problem.
rubber timing belts either wear out by mileage or by age. its only 28k but its almost 7 years old.

Now i dont know why you even mentioned a fan but you must have had it towed to the garage since it would not start. And did you really see the timing belt?? Because it is located behind a metal shroud,,,,it is not the belt that wraps around the various pulleys on the front of the engine.
The timing belt is usually time, as well as mileage related? And fiat is 5 years or 48,000 milesIf it wont start how did you manage totake it to the garage? The belt may have stripped the teeth and still be in place? Its sounds to me that the problem is the timing belt with the symptoms you are describing?
You need to remove the timing belt covers and try turning over the engine with the key. If the cam and the crank both turn, then the belt has not gone. If however when you remove the cover you find that the belt has snapped then its already to late!

    Ja.
Look at the belt closely for cracks. Those cracks hinder the grip of the belt which may cause either slipping or loss of torque during starting.
if you are sure its not snapped, check it has not slipped due to teeth missing. but from what you describe it does not sound like its the belt.

the roof is part of the body of the car. take it away and the body will bend and flex differently. convertables have reinforced frames to compensate for the lack of roof. you would need to add some structural integrity but it is possible not cheap. no, it really isnt possible without alot of work, you could get a converible body and put it on it but still alot of work.
This is a major project involving many hours of labor and countless parts. Best if you leave it as is or continue to look for a convertible.
Probably will cost you more than to find a 65 mustang convertible some where and fix it ...None of the tasks above are for small budget good luck

How can you change your car's engine sound without a vroombox?

Changes the sound of your car's engine.

So it has to do something to your car

can you do that without purchasing a vroombox? Like is there something you can tamper with to make it sound different?

if so, what is it, and where is itHow can you change your car's engine sound without a vroombox?
Yes, mufflers of different shapes and sizes can give your engine different sounds. Well, your EXHAUST, actually...ranging anywhere from a higher-sounding racecar type engine (Nascar sort) to a deep sports/tuner rumble, depending on the type of baffles in the exhaust. If you attach a supercharger, (which costs quite a bit) you can also get a slightly louder sound out of the engine (as well as you'll kill your gas milage).

As far as your engine, not your exhaust, sounding different, short of dropping a different motor under the hood, it's not going to happen. How can you change your car's engine sound without a vroombox?
Maybe I don't understand, or maybe you didn't give enough info. Why do you want to change the sound of the engine? If it is running right, I wouldn't tamper with it. However, there are some mufflers that give a different sound.

How often should i change my car engine oil?

Hi friends, i have a confusion that i would love to clear with you. I take my cars once every month to Jiffylube to change the oil. My question is - do i need to do that every month? I have two cars and thus it becomes expensive for me. People say that once you have driven 3000 miles you need to do that. Please help me. I do not think i drive 3000 miles a month. How often should i change my car engine oil?
i dont do mine until i have done 6000 miles but sometimes even more, people say 3000 to get more money out of u, just take it to a garage, quick and easyHow often should i change my car engine oil?
Dont worry about having it changed EVERY month. Its just every 3000 miles. Generally Jiffy Lube will give a sticker saying the next oil change mileage that you need to take it in.
once a month is too much. Just go by the 3000 mile. In reality you could prob go 5000 miles. Just stick to 3000 and dont sweat it.
It depends if your nascar, nobody is nascar, maybe every 7 thousand miles. It's all how baby powder you really drive your sheet aluminum.
Hi,you don't have to change oil every month, you are only making them rich, first check your cars manual follow it ,if you do nopt have it then 3000 miles rule apply and do change oil filter.
they are right EVERY 3000 miles(just read your tack on the dash that tells youhow many miles you go say you see 123000 change your oil at 126000 simple ok) but yes 3000 miles if the best and must time to change the oil, if u dont go that far in a month then dont do it it be ok, but dont let the car sit for a long time either that is bad, if you drive them both equally then it should be ok
its funny that people still get there oil changed every 3,000 miles it's been went out of date today they recommend every 5,000 to 7,500 miles because today we have more advanced engines and engine oils the 3,000 mile oil change is a get rich quick scam from the oil company's check out my source

How do you change a car title over to another person in Pennsylvania when you still owe on the car?

I have a car that I am still making payments on. I would like to sell it, but I am worried that no one would buy it because of the hassle involved with changing the title over. Has anyone done this before? How does the procedure work in Pennsylvania? Please help! Thanks! How do you change a car title over to another person in Pennsylvania when you still owe on the car?
You need to contact the bank that you make your payments to. They can help get you prepared for the sale. Selling a car that has a lien on it is a common occurrence. Just be sure to let the buyer know ahead of time so there are no surprises. They would go to the bank with you and would pay them directly to clear the lien. How do you change a car title over to another person in Pennsylvania when you still owe on the car?
You cannot sell your car until/unless the lien on it has been satisfied. Tip: I can sense where you are going with this so don't let the other guy simply drive your car and ';take over payments';. That would be a big mistake. It is easy and pain free to sell a car that you still owe money on. It is done thousands of times each day

  • Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?

some engeneers claimed that no need to change engine car oil and it is optional .Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?
Yes you should change your cars engine oil. Not more than 10000klm or 6000miles or 6mth between oil and filter changes while its having its oil changed you should check the transmission and other drive train components along wit suspension tyres and brakes. Not only will your car run a lot better not brake down it will stop it from becoming a lethal weapon unless you are stupid enough to drive that way.Is there any need to change engine car oil regularly ? and how many miles?
Do this and your car won't live to see 100,000 miles. Change your oil every 3,000 miles. I change mine every 2,000
that engineer who gives you advice must be residing in jupiter

and he must driving a camel not cars you need regular maintenance and oil comes in a package check your miles so they can do the proper maintenance of your car because there is minor and major maintenance and there are conditions that have a great affect on your car like dusty conditions the way you drive or using too much load
engine oils viscosity breaks down over time from the heat of the engine, making it less effective. Unless you want a blown head Gasket or a seized engine, I would change it every 3000 miles, as recommended
Yes, you should. It keeps the engine clean, lets the pistons slide without damage, and extends the life of the car. Most manufacturers recommend every 3000 miles but I usually do it about every 4-5000 miles for my diesel truck. I do mine at Wal-Mart because they open early and are VERY reasonably priced. However, you should check your new oil filter and make sure it is screwed on tight. They tend to have a problem with that at the one I go to. Hope this helps!!
some self proclaimed engineers are retards. You should change your oil every 3000 miles or 3 months whichever comes first.

The oil breaks down due tho the heat of the engine. Making it non effective.

    It's one of those things of ';Pay me now, or pay me later';

An oil change at a lube place is about $30.

An oil change in your driveway (do it yourself) is about half that.

A new engine is about $2500 (depending on the type of car %26amp; engine)
That engineer must be in engine overhaul business are selling cars. so you will be in to give him more$$$ I recomend chaging every 2,500 - 3,000 miles Some car manufacturers say every 5,000 miles in the manual which is probably safe but this also depemds on the abuse your engine gets , rather its all highway miles, no dirt roads, no dusty areas, etc.. then 5,000 may be ok. I personally never try to go over 3,000 i have at times but its not good habbit, I have rebuilt and built several engines and trust me clean oil and filters . is a cheap unexpensive way to maintain your car engine for a long time ahead, its nothing noiw days on some engines to run them over 200,000 miles but you must do the shceduled mainatnce checks etc.. follow your cars owners manual , they give you a warranty of so mnay miles well try going to dealership saying sir my engine is shot and by the way i never changed my oil see if your warranty is any good anymore . just spend the 20 bucks or even less change your oil and filter every 3,000 at least clean your airfilter every 3,000 change it or at least clean /inspoect every 6-10,000 miles. all this little stuff keeps your engine clean and happy, this not only prolongs your engines life but it keeps gas mileage up and that along in my household is enuff.
You should do what the manufacturer of the make and model suggests, some auto's use standard oils, some use synthetic blends, some use full synthetic from the factory. Some vehicles, such as Ferrari use full synthetic oils and more than one filter, usually 3 filters, and they recommend 100,000 before an oil change is needed. So look it up for your car, you can even buy the service manuals at the dealership if you don't own one.
Every 3K in addition think about adding an additive at 1.5K between changes. Small $$'s and will keep your car running longer. Take it to one of those places that change your oil at the same time they fill up your tires/top off fluids %26amp; vacume your interior
Yes! and rule of thumb is every 3 months or 5000miles which ever comes 1rst.
are you really a dumb as?why would you change your oil?just change the engine when you blow it up
    I SAY EVER 3THOUNSAND MILES
Synthetic all the way! Worth the cost because it stays cleaner longer, doesn't get crap in your engine, doesn't break down viscally (not nearly as much as regular oil) therefore doesn't need to be changed quite as often, endures higher temps and varied engine conditions. Lessens the need to rape the earth of it's crude. All around good stuff.
My husband is a class A mechanic and I asked him to come in and help me

answer this question. He said, '; it should be changed approximately every

6000 km.'; {we're Canadian so don't know the miles.} The engineers are wrong.

My husband was a class A mechanic for over 46 years and retired 11 years ago.

Changing the oil regularly has not changed. It must be done. Hope this helps.

The oil gets dirty and contaminated so that is the reason for having it changed.
its your engines life blood.every 3,000 miles if you do lots of stop and starting. 5,000 for normal driving is best. or you can get an enineer to replace your engine when it blows from running oil with no viscocity.
No its not optional if you run with the same oil too long it will mess with the pistons and other various parts do to friction due to lack of lubrication. i would say around 5000 miles is a safe range for a oil change.
One major reason to change besides the dirt and carbon that is sponged in by the oil and wicked by the filter is to remove the amassing buildup of this stuff like so much removing a vacuum bag fm the cleaner.

Another reason most overlooked is that with each intake, moisture and humidity is taken in, absorbed, and has a nasty habit of creating acids that break down all those moving parts.

Dirty oil looks dirty. So take the stick, look at it, take some betwixt finger and thumb, rub. Compare to new oil. Check milage-go figure by experiment. It's Ur vehicle.
hi,i would like to answer this because of all the answers you got, NOT ONE mentioned what happens to the oil filter. oil filters needs to be replaced also during an oil change.its a must as a rule of thumb. all oil filters except one,,, becomes restricted after 2000 miles and becomes more restricted at 5000miles, and affects the oil pressure. would you want a lower oil pressure at high speeds or any speeds.? this is the main reason why we need to replace oil and oil filter. most of them recommends at 3000miles. but for my own i replace it at 5000miles so its easy to remember and u dont have to use math to figure when to do next oil change. most oil filter manufacturer dont mention the low pressure pass data on their product EXCEPT ONE. and u know who. its the one that is six times more expensive. but most dont need to know this because they replace it anyway at 3000 miles .
    Nice one everyone!

    There's a twist.

The engineer is correct, if referring to synthetic oil. If you don't buy the best synthetic oil(more expensive)and go cheap - fossil oil, you will get all those bad things as the ';experts'; pointed out, as the oil will retain carbon and sulfur deposits and loose its lubricating properties. However, synthetic oil does not contaminate in the same manner, and I've done my oil changes (on new vehicle) at 1'700kms to change to full synthetic (Mobil one - at 3 times the cost of normal oil) again at 50'000kms 31'250miles, on 100'000kms 62'500miles and again on 150'000kms 93'750miles. I was then living in South Africa were the fuel quality isn't as good as in the Northern Americas or Europe. The oil might look dirty, though it still lubricates as it should, and I only changed the Filter and topped up halfway through each cycle.

    BE CARE FULL!

Your warranty might be in jeopardy if you do not comply with recommended servicing at a dealership.

    NOTE:

The manufacturer will recommend your required A-service intervals based on fuel quality in the area, contaminants in air, recommended oil type and some factors specific to your broader region.

That's what we do at our various dealership outlets.
Those engineers have a boatload of book learning and no practical experience. The oil itself does not break down but the additives do and one of the jobs of oil is to gather the contaminants from combustion and condensation and keep it in suspension so it doesn't abrade or corrode the metals that would otherwise be rubbing against each other. It used to be that we changed oil every 2000 miles but oil is getting better all the time. OK, it isn't the oil that is getting better but the additives. We are using the same oil now as then, but with better additives. That combined with better metallurgy means that we can go further between oil changes now. 3000 to 5000 miles depending on the kind of service you are submitting your vehicle to. And change the filter. Don't be cheep on this one. Changing your oil is cheep compared to changing your engine, or buying a new car.

    Changing car tyres regularly?

I've heard that you should change the position of the tyres on your car every 10,000kms or so? Is this true and how should you change them? eg front left to front right or front right to back right etcChanging car tyres regularly?
I'm too lazy to write a complete answer - but here's an answer link -

    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tChanging car tyres regularly?
Yes this is true (6000mi for the American's). I usually rotate tires in the fassion of moving the front tires to the back and the back tires crossing to the front. It is important to rotate your tires so you keep an even wear on the front and back tires. Usually front tires will wear faster because of the slip angle caused by turning, by rotating them to the rear, all the tires will be experianceing this and the wear will be more spread over all 4 tires. if you don't rotate your tires the front tires will wear out a lot faster then your rear tires, by rotating you tires, you can sometimes get up to 50% more tire life.
front to back back to front. keep in mind alot of new cars have directional tires (the little arrow on sidewall will point to direction of rotation) if not directional, drive tires straight, free rollers crossed.

How to change a car color on photoshop from white to black?

i want to change my car's color from white to blackHow to change a car color on photoshop from white to black?
ok well im going to do this as i write to make sure i do this right ok?

im starting by using the magic wand tool to highlight all the white pieces of the car (that i want to change to black) spend some time with this to make sure you get all of it. right click and then select feather, if it is a higher quality image then enter about 0.5 - 1.5 or if it is a low quality you might need up to 3.

what i did was then go to image %26gt; Adjustments %26gt; Curves and bring the top of the line to nearly the bottom. what that does is lower all the white that we selected until its a very dark shade of grey. oh yeah, then click ok. ^ ^

next i went over where the shadows are with the burn tool (press O until you get to burn) change the setting to shadows and change the exposure to about 10 - 20, then darken the areas which deserve more shadow. and for the shine you should use dodge (which is under the same button as burn) change the setting to shadow as well and lighten up the bits that should be lighter.

at the end of this it should look farely natural, but if you have a grainy picture (as most of mine do) you might want to go to Filter %26gt; Noise %26gt; Add noise and play around until it looks the same as the rest of the picture.

well good luck and i hope this works out for you.
