I bought a car with a co-signer. The car is paid off and I now want to sell the car to Carmax. They require that both parties listed be present. My co-signer lives in another state. You can (I am pretty sure) get a signed release of interest. It will need to be notarized and check with your local title laws to be sure, but they should be able to quickly answer your question.
